What's the difference between AusAlert and the older Emergency Alert warning system? Emergency Alert sends SMS messages to mobile phones and recorded voice messages to landlines. If you receive an Emergency Alert, it will come from the mobile number 0444 444 444. AusAlert uses newer cell-broadcast technology to send warning notifications directly to compatible mobile devices connected to 4G and 5G networks. It can also reach large numbers of devices almost instantly, even when mobile networks are busy. Unlike a text message, an AusAlert appears as a notification on your device.
