Three takeaways from LA’s first road win, at Utah, as they improve to 3-0:
1) Luka’s easy-looking (for him) 52-point explosion and what his teammates thought of watching it.
2) LA’s league-leading offensive efficiency (125.9)
3) The NBA’s best act

Luka on what it’s like getting that hot in the clutch of an NBA game:
"Played the basketball we know how to play. We learned our lesson, so we cannot start games like this anymore."
Luka Dončić (52 PTS, 8 REB, 10 AST, 2 STL) talks with @LakersReporter following the #Lakers 132-123 win in Utah. #LakeShow
Luka just burying wing 3's in the 4th Q, with consecutive bombs putting LA up 127-121, and getting him to 50 points.
Important bench lift from Collin Sexton today: 13 points in 20 minutes on 5 of 11 FG's against his former team.
The efficiency of Austin Reaves through 3 games:
- 127-105 vs. LAC: 23 points on 6 of 11 FG's, 10 of 10 FT's
- 125-117 vs. LAC: 28 points on 10 of 13 FG's, 5 of 6 FT's
- 110-108 with 8 minutes to play vs. Utah tonight: 23 points on 6 of 11 FG's and 8 of 10 FT's
JJJ kicked his leg out to make contact with Grimes on a 3-point attempt, but it wasn't called (the Lakers lost their only challenge back in the 1st Q).
Three makes from the line got Utah even at 100, but Luka's 5th triple put the visitors back up 3. He has 39.
Kessler got his 3rd and 4th PF's early in the 3rd, and he sits at the 7:38 mark as Mamu checks in.
Utah's been focused on taking away Kessler's rolls to the rim and he has only 1 FG with 6 boards, but they've left the perimeter open as a result and LA are scoring consistently.
Matisse Thybulle (3 for 5) and Ziaire Williams (2 for 4) are getting the job done from 3 thus far.
Reaves is also 3 for 3.
What a turnaround for LAL, who trailed by as many as 18 due to what JJ Redick described on @SpectrumSN just now as not being ready to play early, but rallied all the way back to take a 74-71 lead into halftime with Luka (25P) scoring 6 points in the final 33 seconds. Redick added that the quick turnaround didn't surprise him, as he's very high on the character of his team.
Nice bench lift from Sandro Mamukelashvili, with 7 points, plus 2 FT's coming out of a time out, and a chance to trim the once 18-point deficit to two with 1:55 left in the 2nd Q.
Thanks largely to Reaves (15 points in 7 minutes of the 2nd) and a pair of above-the-break 3's from Williams, the Lakers are right back in this one, down 62-55 with 4:30 left in the 2nd Q after trailing by 18 earlier.
Reaves has almost singlehandedly put LA in the bonus for the rest of the 2nd Q with 7:45 to play, drawing a multitude of fouls here amidst his 12-point push.
After Doncic was typically aggressive in the 1st Q, scoring 17 on 5 of 11 FG's, the 2nd Q has been all Austin Reaves thus far. After B2B 3's, he has 10 points in 4 minutes to trim the deficit to 12.
The Lakers allowed 47 1st Q points for a Jazz team that's been hitting first for 12 minutes. Utah had 6 offensive rebounds, including 4 from Ace Bailey alone, helping them attempt 31 FG's to LA's 22.
Ace Bailey has made 6 of 7 FG's for the Jazz to match LA's 13 points in a game the Lakers now trail 29-13. The defensive resistance hasn't been there thus far.
The Lakers starting lineup had been dominant in the first two games, with Kessler a +42, Doncic +41 and Reaves +39, but it's been Utah with the fast start in this 2 p.m. Pacific tip off today in Salt Lake.
Jazz lead 12-6 into the first time out.
