Girma Wake says GHANA granted UGANDA AIRLINES fifth freedom rights for Accra–Lagos, but NIGERA is withholding approval because Uganda hasn’t joined the Single Africa Air Transport Market(SAATM).
Fifth freedom rights would allow Uganda Airlines to sell tickets and carry passengers between Accra and Lagos as part of its service from Entebbe.
38 African states have signed the Solemn Commitment to SAATM but we still have a gap between signatures and action. Only 26 have signed the implementation memorandum, and fewer still have implemented the measures for full compliance.
Uganda Airlines needs room to grow its network. Africa needs us to be willing to open our skies as readily as we seek access to others.

Tororo Municipality MP @shyamtanna_ Jay Tanna, who told @Parliament_Ug he exports to Congo, said Congolese buyers "come with piles and piles of US dollars" and stagger their payments, because cash above US$10,000 attracts a handling charge.
He urged that bringing South Sudan and the DRC onto the regional payment system be a priority, saying it would "push our exports."
