I really wish people would stop asking this question. It’s a dumb one that gives way to esoteric questions (“Does any country have a right to exist?”). Just ask what you’re trying to get at: do you think Israel SHOULD exist, and if not, what should exist in its place?

The entirety of the hostage deaths can be traced back to them being taken hostage by Hamas.
A majority of the hostage deaths can be ‘traced back to Israeli military actions’! Good job Netanyahu! Good job IDF defenders in the West! 👏🏽👏🏽

Probably no way for Mamdani to get this right. But that he didn’t mention indiscriminate Hamas killing of civilians; sexual predation; execution of hostages while detailing Palestinian deaths/suffering by Israel inevitably led to getting this wrong. nytimes.com/2026/10/07/nyreg…

Leftists like to portray Shapiro as some Hasbara nut but the reality is if he became president he would be far more confrontational with Bibi and he would have more license to from American Jews because he's trusted to do it right.
Josh Shapiro asked in #PAGOV debate last night to weigh in on Dems’ shift away from Israel. “I’ve been…consistent…in my love of Israel and also my disagreements w/the Netanyahu gov” Israelis will soon “determine who their leader should be. I hope it’s not Benjamin Netanyahu”

I wish there was a way to send them to live in Gaza under Hamas rule. After a while they'll learn the language & engage with Gazans, who according to polls overwhelmingly reject Hamas. They'll gradually recognize the brutal and authoritarian nature of the militia they adore from afar because it was successful in murdering Israelis.
NOW: "Long Live Hamas!" chants as protesters stormed and confronted the 'Israelis For Peace' vigil held at USQ, organizers say they hold the vigil regularly for the hostages and for Gaza. Video by @yyeeaahhhboiii2 | Licensing @FreedomNTV Desk@freedomnews.tv

Pitch perfect. For years, when push comes to shove, they invariably blinked. "They" being all those in positions of authority who always find, at the very last minute, a reason not to do what is right. The Burnham/Miliband Government doesn't blink. תבורכו.

We have to make her a one term congresswoman this is outrageous
Three years ago today, 1,100 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. My heart is with those who lost loved ones and felt the pain of that day. What immediately followed was destruction on a scale this generation hasn’t seen in Israel's nearly 80 years of violent oppression of Palestinians — much of which was funded by American tax dollars. Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, including over 20,000 children. More than 175,000 Palestinians have been wounded. Thousands more are still missing under the rubble. Entire Palestinian family names have been wiped from the civil registry. The Israeli military has bombed hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, humanitarian aid distribution centers, and water systems. Nearly the entire population of Gaza has been driven from their homes and forced to live in tents that have also been bombed. Israel is subjecting Palestinian men, women, and children to systematic torture and collective starvation as a weapon of genocide. Israel has killed over 1,400 Palestinians since its so-called ceasefire. Our tax dollars are paying for these atrocities and unconditional support from both the Biden and Trump administrations have allowed them to continue. Here in Uptown and the Bronx, our neighbors voted to invest in a politics of life: one where their tax dollars are used to invest in our babies at home, not in dropping bombs on babies abroad. If we are to build a politics of human dignity that disrupts cycles of violence, we must reckon with the reality of our own failure to intervene in decades of dispossession, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Every human life is precious, and we must start acting like it. As a Member of Congress, I will do everything in my power to build a foreign policy rooted in the safety, equality, and freedom of all people, including ending U.S. taxpayer funding for Israel’s war crimes, fighting for a full arms embargo, and for the Palestinian right of return.

There is something particularly repellent about choosing the anniversary of a massacre to suggest that the victims were actually killed by their own side. Yet this is the allegation being pushed by Zeteo’s Mehdi Hasan, in a new video about the so-called “Hannibal Directive” (which was abolished in 2016). He wants to know “how many people were killed not by Hamas, but by Israeli forces”, and, like a true conspiracy theorist, accuses the media of taking “a vow of silence” on the subject. What a repulsive little move on the anniversary of the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. (Even the UN has failed to support it!) Of course, Hasan does not completely deny that Hamas carried out the attack. He’s too clever for that. But the insinuation that many viewers will take from this piece of nudge-nudge propaganda could hardly be clearer: if the story we were told about October 7 was false, what else are the Jews lying about? As with all the best conspiracy theories – though Hasan, of course, pulls a slight-of-hand in pretending that he’s just doing brave journalism – there is just enough truth buried in the narrative to make it effective propaganda. So let’s look at the evidence... New post. Link in first reply

In 1947, Hollywood icon Lena Horne married Lennie Hayton, a Jewish composer, arranger, and conductor at MGM. Their marriage came at a time when interracial marriage was still illegal in much of the United States, and both racism and antisemitism shaped American life. The couple initially kept their marriage private and later faced hostility for being together. Horne would become one of the defining Black stars of her generation, while Hayton built a celebrated career behind some of Hollywood’s most memorable music. Their marriage lasted more than two decades, until Hayton’s death in 1971. A Black screen legend. A Jewish Hollywood musician. And a love story that quietly challenged the boundaries of its era.

yes, @mehdirhasan is disgusting
Let’s be very clear about what @mehdirhasan is doing here. He’s both sides-ing October 7 by hinting that Israel is as responsible for the deaths on that day as Hamas. It’s a transparent effort to shift outrage from Hamas to Israel for 10/7. There’s no other reason to run a story like this on the week of October 7. It’s vile and disgusting but it’s also unfortunately very on point for him.

You can have just a post marking the tragic October 7th massacre. You could save your selective ahistorical biased opinions on the whole history of Israel and Palestine (seemingly justifying October 7th) until say tomorrow. Your empathy could exceed your biases.

so, I guess we should await further information
BREAKING: The source of this claim is Sameer al-Mashrawi, a leader in Mohammed Dahlan’s faction, which is currently working to form a coalition with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. A source close to Marwan Barghouti’s family described the claims as “inaccurate.”
