The haunted narrator wonders if the 200-ft. cliffs that serve as a backdrop for his waterfront town, holding its inhabitants under a spell of alcohol and apathy, might also be to blame for his friend's daring, final bet. goodreads.com/book/show/1791…
I remember this was on the June 2026 California primary ballot. It didn't confuse me, and I don't remember it being a big deal as is with GOP and Alaska. sl.bing.net/jdaguh5l5dk
Happy Birthday to Gertrude Atherton who could write some great horror stories. sl.bing.net/iBjPoEQdBKu

If you want to be a writer, you have to treat writing as a skill you'll spend the rest of your life learning and improving. There is no point where you've mastered it. No point where you're done learning.
Don't go into it with any other mindset.

I feel for kids who will never know what it’s like to run wild through their neighborhoods on Halloween. I thank God often for the gift of knowing what it was like to live in an analog world, with neighbors who knew and trusted each other. It angers me, how quickly it dissolved.
Other than NYC Central Park carriage horses, my heart breaks for ponies, circus animals, donkey abuse and those forced to live out their lives in aquatic amusement parks and zoos.
My autistic son draws well + recalls old-film dialogue b4 actors say it but can't read. Halloween tradition is I read 2 stories for 31 nights from Short + Shivery, his favorites are this + "The Adventure of the German Student." sl.bing.net/bE28gKuHE28
National Poetry Day for the U.S. is today. With Rainbow Road, by @ScottLaudati, there's not only a lot of poetry but an intense look at its many states:
My entertaining, October short-story collections, What One Wouldn't Do, The Oxford Book of Victorian Ghost Stories, The Caves of Death and The Lammas Ghosts, from the 1800s to 2021 and present:
Since it's October and for those who loved the PS game, the recent Resident Evil is so well done, but I thought Sleepy Leon/Rude Awakening was yet another great scene from 2021's film, Welcome to Raccoon City: youtu.be/wpWAglA-wQ0?si=h_G5…

Donald Trump’s remarks were dangerous — if not treasonous — putting a target on two of our biggest cities and one of America’s largest naval hubs.
I am directing the State Threat Assessment Center to actively monitor the situation in the event that foreign actors interpret the President’s remarks as an invitation to target California.
I love TCM, Christopher Lee + Sam the Sham. A few years ago, some higher-ups decided for us that there was no longer any interest in old films, but the public fought to keep the channel. I remember this was TCM's 1st Halloween ad during Covid: youtu.be/xPyWkXdGSmU?si=IltA…
My daughter rescued a Pom almost put down bc he didn't like to be petted. He's very sweet + comes to my door a lot, barking once for a treat. My daughter privately tutors a young girl and showed her the Pom's photo on her phone. After seeing it, the girl drew this great art:
Loved the latest R.E. film + 2021's Welcome To Raccoon City (weird part begins at 4:53) that were so different from the many ones my son had me endure over the years. I didn't notice till recently how old PS R.E. Survivor game hints at Epstein Island? youtu.be/a9t7o5anCoM?si=N7D3…
