I wasn't trying to build a startup. I was just trying to deploy a contact form without losing my mind. Hi, I'm David Adeyemi. A developer and founder. Every client project ended the same way. The code was done. Tests passed locally. Then came the deployment. SSH in. Configure Nginx. Set up PM2. Something breaks. Fix it. Update the app two weeks later. SSH back in. Something else breaks. I got good at it. Really good. But "good at suffering" is not a skill I wanted to keep sharpening. Vercel made frontend feel like magic. Three clicks and you're live. I wanted that feeling for my own VPS. Not AWS. Not some $50/month platform. My own cheap server where the dollar to naira conversion doesn't make me cry. So I built @symplaxhq. Connect your VPS with an IP and password. That's it. GitHub deploys, server hardening, databases, monitoring, all from a dashboard. No more SSH holes. No more config nightmares. Just ship. If you've ever deployed anything to a VPS and felt that pain, this is for you. symplax.com

Day 13 ✅ Most people type www, and until today that could lead nowhere on a Symplax app. If your app lived on example.com, example.com didn’t go anywhere unless you set up a redirect at your registrar yourself. Now @symplaxhq handles it for you: • example.com redirects to example.com, or the other way round if you prefer • It keeps the page and the query string, so links don’t break • It gets its own HTTPS certificate • A missing www record never breaks your main domain You add one DNS record and that’s it.
Day 12 ✅ Buddy got a few upgrades on @symplaxhq: • Your chats now follow you to any device • It can clean up your server, like old images and build cache, and it shows you exactly what it will remove before it does anything • It reads the Symplax docs, so it understands the whole product when you ask it questions • Anything risky still waits for your approval It still can’t delete your apps, databases or servers. What would you want Buddy to take off your plate next?

Day 11 ✅ Something small but useful changed on @symplaxhq today. Before, the Free plan limited how many servers you could have. Now you can buy as many servers as you need, and you only pay for the hours they run, straight from your wallet. There’s no subscription to sign up for. Your plan only limits the servers you connect yourself. Any server you buy through Symplax is yours for as long as you keep paying for it, and it never gets locked. Each one is ready in about a minute, comes with Ubuntu, and is already hardened, so you can go straight to deploying. How many servers are you running right now, and what are they costing you each month?

Shipped. Buddy now shows the commit, the migration it runs and what can't be undone, before you approve. Thanks for the push.
Nice. Curious how you handle the 'fixes it' step for anything touching prod data, like migrations. A required diff + confirm before anything destructive would make me trust it more.

Day 10 ✅ Meet Buddy, An AI inside your @symplaxhq dashboard. Ask it in plain words: • “Why did my last deploy fail?” • “Show me the logs of my api” • “Create a Postgres db and link it to my app” It reads your logs, explains what broke, and fixes it. It asks before it changes anything, and it can never delete anything. It runs on your own Anthropic key and you pick the model: Opus, Sonnet or Haiku. Symplax charges nothing for it. Prefer your own editor? The same tools work in Claude Code, Cursor and Codex: npx symplax@latest mcp

Day 9 ✅ Today was all about bug fixes and smoother UX for users.
Day 8 ✅ symplax CLI 0.2 is out for @symplaxhq. • apps create - create an app from your terminal • env set / import - manage environment variables • cron add / pause / logs - cron jobs without leaving the CLI • domain set - point your domain in one command create an app with its database already linked. Cron jobs now work over the API too. docs moved to docs.symplax.com, powered by @mintlify Every page has a .md version and an llms.txt so your AI assistant can read them directly. npx symplax@latest

Day 7 ✅ symplax is now on npm. Run npx symplax login. Your browser opens, you click Authorize, and you’re in. Then deploy, read logs, restart, or roll back @symplaxhq apps straight from your terminal. It follows the build live and hands you the URL when it’s done. Works in CI too. Deploy only after your tests pass. One command. The terminal people finally have their way in. 😂 What’s your current deploy setup?
Day 6 ✅ Spent today on UX in @symplaxhq. Team settings now show which team you're in and your role at a glance. Every role explains what it can do before you invite anyone. Creating an API key ends with a clear summary and a ready-to-run example. Removing a member or revoking an invite now asks first. Small fixes. Fewer "wait, what just happened" moments.

Day 5 ✅ Built API keys for @symplaxhq. Create a key, pick what it can do, and your scripts, CI, or AI assistant can deploy for you. It can only do what you allow. It can never delete anything. Revoke it in one click. Next up: symplax deploy from your terminal.

Day 4 ✅ Practiced breaking @symplaxhq on purpose today. Rolled production back, rolled it forward, made sure nothing fell over. Better to find out now than at 3am.

Day 3 ✅ No flashy features today on @symplaxhq. Bug fixes. Security tightening. Edge cases that needed handling. The unglamorous work that makes everything else hold up. Shipping every day means some days look like this. That’s fine.

Day 2 ✅ Two updates on @symplaxhq: 1. Your release command now runs BEFORE your new version starts. Migrations go first, in a one-off container with your env, volumes and network. If they fail, the deploy stops and your current version keeps serving. Apps that depend on migrations now deploy safely. 2. Uptime alerts. Symplax checks every app’s public URL once a minute. If it goes down, you get an email. When it’s back, you get another. No extra setup. Deploy and it’s watching.

Symplax Technologies Limited is now officially registered. From a side project built out of frustration to a real company with a CAC certificate. Motion at all costs. 💚

I almost shipped a feature nobody asked for last week. Spent 3 days building a custom analytics dashboard for @symplaxhq . Charts. Graphs. Retention curves. The works. Then I asked 5 users what they actually wanted. Not one of them mentioned analytics. They wanted faster deployments and better error messages. I deleted the whole thing and built what they asked for instead. The hardest skill in building is knowing what not to ship.

Most developers know how to deploy an application. But do you actually know what happens behind the scenes? When you deploy a Node.js app, a few things typically happen: 1. Your source code is fetched from a repository. 2. Dependencies are installed. 3. Your application is built (if required). 4. A process or container starts your application. 5. A reverse proxy like Nginx routes incoming traffic to it. 6. Your domain's DNS points users toward the server. That's the basic idea. Deployment isn't magic. It's a series of steps working together to make your application accessible. Understanding these steps makes debugging production issues a lot easier.
