Former PlayStation boss, isn’t convinced gamers will be willing to spend around $1,000 on PS6 or Xbox’s Project Helix if the upgrades are mostly technical.
He says that simply adding more ray tracing, higher TFlops, and better graphics may not be enough to make people reach into their pockets for another expensive console.

Layden says console upgrades used to feel much more dramatic, comparing the jump from PS1 to PS2 to moving from VHS to DVD. Today, the difference between generations can be much harder to notice.
