This is excellent from @mcash - what a difference it makes when someone who really cares is in charge.
Devastated to hear that Giles Peaker @nearlylegal has passed away.
He supported Ledbury residents tirelessly, helping us secure safe homes & later gave his time freely to @TowerBlocksUK to help advise tenants on their rights. A huge loss. Thoughts with his family and colleagues.
Shameless corruption from @SouthwarkLabour but unsurprising, they’ve always been bullies and done whatever they like. They just make it up as they go along. @mcash at least answered our emails during the Ledbury crisis - Sarah King never did - she didn’t give AF. Speaks volumes.

Residents in high-rise homes made with pre-fab concrete panels have told BBC London they fear for the safety of their buildings.
They say they're living with cracks in the walls and ceilings that have led to water leaks and mould.

🚨 Southwark Council have issued Notice To Quit to a #LedburyEstate tenant being decanted from the towers. She refused a studio flat as it was too small for her & her school aged child. The council are now resorting to intimidation tactics in what was an already dire situation

Southwark councils latest #LedburyEstate newsletter seems to imply that families being decanted from the tower blocks may be classed as ‘intentionally homelessness’ if they don’t accept properties that the council deem as suitable. @Shelter @nearlylegal

We’ve been advised that Southwark Council @lb_southwark should be paying statutory Home Loss payments to the temporary tenants being decanted from Ledbury Estate as the Land Compensation Act does not discriminate between tenancy types.

Housing providers have been known to try and force tenants to sign new contacts without having a chance to view their home which they’re being forced into. Tenants then move in to find out it’s falling to bits.
I hope this isn’t what Southwark Council is doing. It’s wrong on every level.

Southwark council are dragging their feet on our FOI request to find out why the Ledbury blocks have had to be evacuated for a second time. They cited ‘worsening safety problems’ but don’t seem to be able to tell us what those are. whatdotheyknow.com/request/l…
