The COVID vaccines had side effects.
The COVID vaccines saved millions of lives.
Both are true.
Ideal? No.

Look, 200,000-300,000 Americans needlessly lost their lives during the Covid pandemic bc they succumbed to a vast health disinformation campaign and reckless statements (like yours claiming they are not vaccines). There are rare side effects, but Covid vaccines overall had an excellent safety record and they saved millions of lives in North America. Also our low-cost version saved hundreds of thousands of lives. Thanks for the question.

The horror has come to our city: ICE has shot a person in Austin this morning.
As the facts emerge, I am demanding a full, independent investigation, immediate release of the body camera footage, and accountability for any ICE officer who broke the law.
Over and over, ICE has shot people and then lied about what happened. We can see the lies with our own eyes. We will demand truth, transparency and accountability.

I am very angry and extremely disappointed that a person was shot on the streets of Austin by ICE.
While Iโm angry and disappointed, Iโm not surprised. This has happened in other cities. With the rogue nature of ICE and the chaos weโre seeing fomented by ICE, thereโs no reason to be surprised.
Austinites have a right to know what happened and they have a right to feel safe in their community.
Though APD was not involved in the shooting, I believe that there needs to be an investigation that APD assures is clear-eyed, as complete as possible, and independent. Iโve discussed this with Chief Davis. Chief Davis deployed APDโs Special Investigation Unit and the Unit has been on scene this afternoon. This is the same unit that investigates Austinโs officer involved shootings.
Chief Davis has also been in contact with the Texas Rangers and has asked the Rangers to assist in an investigation. This participation with the Texas Rangers will be important due to the access the Texas Department of Public Safety had early in the incident.
As the city continues to receive more information, we will make sure to keep the community aware.
#BREAKING: One person was hurt in a shooting in North Austin at Anderson Square Sunday afternoon involving ICE. The City of Austin will hold a press conference at 4 p.m. regarding the incident.
