Child asked me if I was a clock. I told her yes. I was keeping time until the world would be safe for her.

Thank you, Bailey. You came when we needed you most. You made our lives a million times better. I wish we could've had one more beach trip. One more night with you hogging the bed. One more walk. One more day. But your time was here and we made it perfect. Run free, old friend.

God, no. This is such a horrible take. This past year I listened to more radio broadcasts than I watched on a screen. Especially in my back yard, watching twilight turn to night. Or driving long road trips. I'm so sick of optimization culture. Yes, we need radio. Full stop.

@DavidPSamson says MLB no longer needs radio: "We don't need baseball on radio anymore." The former Marlins president predicts on Nothing Personal that "radio will go the way of Kodak and Blockbuster." @JohnMamola has more. #MLB barrettmedia.com/2026/10/28/…

David Samson: Baseball Is No Longer "Needed" On The Radio

"You require to have baseball and radio because everybody hasn't died yet who grew up listening to baseball on the radio. But guess what? That generation is going to die at some point."

Wonderful having the voice of Rick Rizzs in my ear for so many years. Today is bittersweet. Thank you, sir, for everything. @Mariners

@Mariners I've observed a lot of baseball in 40 years, in person, radio, the early days on MLBTV. For a few glorious outs during today's broadcast, the fixed camera showing the whole field was incredible. No frenetic cuts, just a genuine feeling like being at the ballpark.

@MLBTV @MLB should do what they can to offer viewers a choice to use a fixed whole field video stream for all games! It was so cool to see things TV rarely captures, like the fielders subtly shifting, players backing up, the speed of line drives, all the things TV cuts erode.

Packing up, moving out in the morning. Off to Sydney for a summer study abroad law school course. Hurts a TON to leave my family behind for a couple weeks. When class is over, they're flying out to join me to visit Perth then Christchurch before we all come home.

Gone a month and feeling culture shock of being back among the rude, the pushy, the selfish and the inconsiderate. When did it become socially acceptable to be on loud public video calls or watching videos without headphones? Take me back to the quiet dignity of Christchurch.
