My dad built my son a mound. The square lifts up and you can rotate it. When he gets older you can rotate it 180 degrees and make the mound longer. Or rotate it 90 and work picks to first base. Figured baseball folks would appreciate this type of work!

So, they’re playing baseball??
The Rays believe in Strike one. They hit the FB. They run the bases well. They play good defense. Bottom half of order know who they are and execute. Move runners if they need to. More importantly they don't strike out!! Sometimes people complicate this game. They keep it simple

This is what’s called pitching, not throwing.
Justin Verlander reveals the game that convinced him to stop throwing as hard as he could “The whole knock on me early in my career was that I threw too many pitches. I’d throw 120 pitches, but I was only going six innings.” “I had a game in Boston where we really needed me to get deep in the game. Our bullpen was shot. I go out the first couple innings, and I look up and I’ve got sixty-something pitches.” “To me, the most important thing for that game was to chew innings. I was like, ‘I can’t keep this pace.’ So I ended up slowing myself down. I was throwing fastballs at 89. I threw a changeup in that game at 91 and threw a fastball at 89 in the same game.” “I just pulled the throttle way back. I was like, ‘Man, here, hit it. Put it in play.’ All of a sudden, I was like, ‘Man, I am really able to hit my spot.’” “I basically took that mentality and flipped it going into the next season. Let me try starting games like this and then building up as I go. If I get in trouble, I’ve always got it in my back pocket.” “I always viewed it from the hitter’s perspective as you’re facing three different pitchers in three different at-bats, and they’re progressively getting harder to hit.”

The first 5 are completely unbreakable nowadays.
What’s the most unbreakable MLB career record?

This is incredible stuff. Back when they logged innings.
Randy Johnson’s age 37 season in 2001 up against Jacob Misiorowski’s MLB career to date.

This is one thing I noticed when I went to my last Tigers game. Guys are creeping closer and closer to the plate and more behind!
MLB and its umpires must enforce where players do their on-deck work. Must. This is horrifying and avoidable and I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often 🙏

If you don’t like this on deck, you’re not ready to hit. Coaches if you’re not teaching kids to do this, you’re not preparing them to hit.

How does this keep happening in the MLB?
Walker Buehler was forced to leave today's game in the third inning because Craig Stammen visited the mound after Ruben Niebla had already made a visit in that same inning.

I’ve never seen a great pitcher not have a great catch play. Start there.

Tigers two errors. Dodgers bunt, Tigers don’t. Clark doesn’t go first to third. Dang it.

I’ll add that Pedro did this against juiced up hitters while throwing over 200 innings a year. Miz is having a great year, but these are not the same.
Fair to point out we shouldn't get too excited about this, as Pedro Martínez had a higher ERA+ from 1999-2000. A 265 ERA+ over 430.1 innings is menacing.

I like Jobe throwing more two seamers. He can’t front door it yet, and still pulls a ton of non competitive pitches.

How easy can you throw hard?

Yikes. Don’t do this kids.
"Was he running hard? Not exactly." Heliot Ramos is 0 for his last 23

Nick Saban shares the uncomfortable truth on why great teams fail without standards. "Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." "So if everybody doesn't buy into the same principles and values of the organization and the same high standard, you're never gonna be successful." That's the truth. You can't build chemistry when half the team is committed and the other half is coasting. "You know what my goal with spring practice is? Get the right guys on the bus, get them in the right seats, and get the wrong guys off the bus." It's not about talent - it's alignment and direction. "Do you want to be somebody they're trying to get off the bus because you're satisfied with mediocre performance?" Success isn't just about talent. It's about shared beliefs, shared commitment, and shared standards. (🎥Coaching Character Initiative)
