IISS Director-General and Chief Executive, Dr Bastian Giegerich, sets the scene for this year's deliberations at the IISS Prague Defence Summit, noting that European defence has entered a new era, one defined not just by surging demand for military capabilities and defence industrial capacity, but by the need to translate significant investment into tangible results for the defence of Europe.

Israel has increasingly relied on AI-enabled systems to wage war across the region, particularly in Palestine. These systems are enabled by Israeli- and US-headquartered tech corporations. My area of interest now: this - one of the most widely reported on IISS reports so far this year:
It is highly likely that the Kremlin conducted a coordinated Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV) campaign over Europe.
Germany recorded the largest number of incidents of any European country, with 58 reported UAV sightings between August 2024 and February 2026.
