As ODPs who have progressed outside of theatre the glass ceilings that have had to be broken to progress were more than our nursing colleagues have to go through. AfC needs changing but career progression cannot be a justifiable reason for nurses to have a separate spine
This is a vital consultation for all ODPs and will massively affect teamworking and collaboration in the operating theatre. We can't have two professions of equal standard on different pay scales. AfC needs changing but this is not the answer in my opinion

We need to remain unified - not just for AP level but also for those areas such as theatres/ITU/ED where ODPs are now working alongside other HCPs in the same space, delivering safe patient care. AfC needs an overhaul - division isn’t the answer

Happy national #ODPday to all the wonderful ODPs and student ODPs both in the UK and internationally. In what has possibly been the most challenging 18 months of our careers you have all stepped up and shown why we are a vital part of healthcare and how diverse we can be #ODP

Great news to see ODPs can now give out the flu jab due to the amendment in the Human Medicines (Coronavirus and influenza). Had the go ahead from my trust - all trained and ready to start vaccinating next week! @CollegeODP

👇🏻👍🏻
To all ODPs and colleagues - please support this as it would benefit patient care massively in the traditional and extended roles and help the advanced practitioners work towards gaining IP (just avoid the “quick links” for now and scroll to the bottom of the page)

From all of us behind the Advanced Practice ODP page please complete the survey to help look at how Advanced Practice can be shaped to make it more robust and accessible to all AHPs... takes 5 mins to complete
All AHPs but especially my ODP colleagues take 5 mins out your day and complete this, the only way we can support change is to support the research. Literally takes 5 mins, done it myself!

ODPs as AHPs have stepped forward in the last few months and shown exactly what we are capable of... there has never been a better time to be an ODP, times are changing and will continue to change. Firstly an ODP, always an ODP and proud...as are all advanced ODP colleagues!

Nows the time to get involved.... #ODP
Thanks to @knitknitqueen for the tag: Calling all ODPs who have advanced/looking to advance - take a look and see if you fancy getting involved - only way we will drive change is to support the research/projects.. @CollegeODP hcpc-uk.org/registrants/upda…

Evening guys! Today I have been in resus so busy at times. I will drop in tomorrow and discuss some generic resus cases I see as I’m shattered tonight and currently commuting home

One of the most common presentations to ED is abdominal pain. So let’s look at a generic example case: 38M presenting with 1/7 hx worsening generalised abdo pain, nausea but no vomiting. Bowel and bladder function normal. What would we do to begin?

At that point I will make sure the referral is made on the system, I have began and sorted a drug chart and planned analgesics. I will then complete my documentation and wait for a surgical review.

This is just a made up example of one presentation (and not one I’ve seen today) and the thought process behind it. I am back in tomorrow so will pick another generic presentation if you think this works? Hopefully helps to see what kind of processes we go through daily
