Learning point: As I transition from player to coach I am realizing that basketball terminology is universal. Different coaches, different philosophies, different systems, but the language of the game stays consistent. The details may differ, but the foundation remains the same

every startup should map its Maze every way it can die, written down.. 🪦 and how you get past each one Not fun. but way more useful than another dream pitch

Shipped the update this week. 🎉 Excited for this defense module for new players. Short, concise, but so important in the game of basketball.

Gobert telling LaMelo to "slow down with me" is the best IQ note of the preseason. a ball screen asks the defense a question. go too fast and you leave before they answer. the guards who look quickest in May are usually the patient ones in October 🧠 (h/t @DaneMooreNBA)

one product call I keep defending at THINK.: every player picks a position at sign-up. the game keeps going positionless, and I love it. but a 5 and a 1 still read the same possession from different spots. so whatever you ask THINK., the answer starts where you stand.

Last month a US fund passed on us because we're not a Delaware C-Corp yet. In their September stats, incorporation was the #1 pass reason (47%), checked before anyone reads a deck. Non-US founders raising in the US: sort the entity first. Anyone flipped to Delaware mid-raise?

September sports tech: $306M across 13 rounds (h/t Malte Kittlaus). Basketball's share: @nexplayground $150M, @shoot360 $7M, @brodierec $3.6M. 🏀

All three measure what your body does: shots, reps, stats, movement. What decides games happens before the ball moves. Seeing the floor, knowin the read, five guys callin it the same thing. Almost none of that money goes there.

Curious if anyone's seen a real bet on the decision-making side of the game. 👀 Who's funding the read?

Paris for a few days.. C-Day out there. Walkin, thinkin — brain got quieter, ideas got louder. Still seein the floor tho. Back on the grind!! Users, language, next clear piece. 🟠 @think_bball

Will to win without basketball IQ just becomes chaos under pressure. Hate losin' is fuel. Reads are the steering wheel.
Basketball keeps evolving, but we’ve lost the discussion about their “will to win.” It’s what separated Kobe from his contemporaries. Does the kid hate losing? How competitive are they? That will creates more effort, grit and force when required. Those are the players you want.

Lived that as a player. Huddle says one thing. Five different movies hit the floor. 😂 Shared language fixes a lot of it — same words, same action. THINK. puts that on the phone: think.basketball
Share this if you've ever drawn up a play in the huddle... and watched all five kids run something completely different. 🏀😂

Rewatching the @ycombinator Startup School from back in 2018. Three things crazy: 1️⃣ It was 8 years ago 😳 2️⃣ Most of it is still relevant today!! Startups, growth, channels & tactics via @Airbnb (w/ a lil adjustment for AEO) 3️⃣ @gustaf is not aging 😂 youtu.be/T9ikpoF2GH0

Youth sports capital buys facilities, events, apparel, media, pathways. Basketball’s deep in that stack. 🏀 See the floor. Understand the game. Communicate it. That layer still lives w/ a whiteboard + whoever’s in the gym.. Easy layers get bought first. Hard layer still open.

Coaches see it first. ⬇️ Bodies get trained. Mind doesn’t.. Language, coverages, next-play reads — that’s trainable, same as a jump shot.
After coaching 8th/9th graders this summer …. The lack of basketball iq is actually insane

THINK. just got a lot smarter. Used to look a term up. Now it pays attention to what you search, ask, and get stuck on — and recommends it for you. 💫

Just shipped our first major update on @think_bball!! 🎉 Now the app learns from how a player uses it: what they search, what they ask the chat, where they get stuck — and starts showing them what actually matters to their game.
