I remember back in 2024 at Air Force Military School, Jos. After the muster parade, the Commandant welcomed some newly posted corp members. One of them boldly asked, "Sir, please what does the first letter of your name mean? N.U. Danjuma."

Michael was the kind of person who replied whenever he felt like it, cancelled plans without explanation, and acted as though nothing mattered.
Whenever Sarah complained, he laughed and said, โYou're overthinking. It's not that serious.โ
Sarah kept trying. She checked on him, made excuses for him, and convinced herself that maybe he simply had a different way of showing care.
Until one day, she stopped.
No more double texts.
No more asking why he had changed.
No more fighting for his attention.
Michael noticed the silence and finally asked, โWhat's wrong with you lately?โ
Sarah smiled and replied, โNothing. I'm just matching the energy you've been giving me.โ
For the first time, Michael realized that her patience had never meant she could endure forever.
Sometimes, the person you call nonchalant isn't heartless. They're just waiting to see how long someone can keep caring alone.
