I cannot understand why people are feting Karl Bushby as some kind of hero.
He deserted his 8yr old son for decades to go off on a selfish and utterly pointless adventure. He didn't even raise money for charity.
Just imagine what everyone would be saying about a mum who did the same thing.
After 28 years, 30 countries and more than 30,000 miles on foot, Karl Bushby has completed his epic odyssey around the world, returning home to Hull, England. Bushby says the kindness of strangers and the human spirit carried him through the challenges of his journey, which began when he was 29. Now, he tells CBS News' @RamyInocencio that he hopes his story inspires others to dream bigger and push themselves to do more.
Why is everyone celebrating this prick Karl , who deserted his family !! Awful man #gmb

With reports of poppy sellers being targeted by pro-Palestinian protesters, it’s time to put political differences aside.
Our elderly volunteers should never face intimidation for selling poppies and honouring our war dead. Whatever our political views, we must stand together to ensure they can carry out their work safely.
Protect our poppy sellers. Honour our fallen. Defend our right to remember.

I have never denied that people who call themselves trans exist and in the UK, they rightly have exactly the same rights as every other citizen. What you want is for women to lose their sex-based rights to accommodate men who say they're women. That's the conflict.

Here’s our Fred. Back to stand another day, in memory of our most brave.
Fred has been spat at, called a war monger and worst of all at Brent Cross, he was told by security that he wouldn’t be able to come in and stand unless he REMOVED HIS MEDALS AND UNION JACK BADGE.
Where’s the gratitude?? Where’s the respect?? Shameful
Bless you Fred❤️🇬🇧

My sister went to Waitrose on Sunday in Mill Hill East and there was a veteran called Fred selling poppies. She went to buy one for him and as it was chilly outside asked to buy him a coffee to warm him up. In conversation she heard from him how he has been spat at, called a racist and a warmonger … all for selling poppies to remember our most brave and fallen heroes. It broke my heart. What has become of this country? Where is the gratitude to those that lay down their lives so we could be free? Where has pride in our country gone?
I’ve been there every day since in the hope of seeing him, but as yet, Fred hasn’t returned.

With foggy weather about here’s Peter Brook’s ‘A Good View of the Pennines (if it weren’t so misty)’, one of his many paintings of the moors above Crimsworth Dean, near Hebden Bridge. Whether the atmospheric conditions do detract from the scene is of course a matter of opinion.

Some of Peter Brook’s early Brighouse work is decidedly light hearted, in ‘Old Buildings’ the bright colours creating an upbeat mood. Not a painting to be taken too seriously, the reference to the American author William Saroyan and his birth in 1908 adds to the sense of whimsy.

£10bn for Ukraine while our roads need £18.6bn just to stop falling apart. That same money hires 237,000 nurses for a year, builds 40-50,000 social homes, or covers Winter Fuel for years. Instead it’s shipped abroad and we get another speech about standing with Ukraine.
