🚨New Year, New name. QPR Analytics → Loftus IQ 🔵⚪️
Yes, taken me five years to finally rebadge this account to a less clunky name
And from January, look out for a new monthly Substack which will attempt to read the tea leaves on the @SkyBetChamp data and all things #QPR 👍
12 games into the season it’s time for the Loftus IQ (& Opta) match outcome probabilities before each @SkyBetChamp gameweek. Will get more into this in subsequent Substack posts in due course. GW13 below…

I wish I had these facilities when I was coming through.
For any young player that gets the chance to go into this football club take it with both hands.
It gave me an opportunity in life and somewhere to go outside my front door .
I wouldn’t change it for anything because I wouldn’t of had a career otherwise.
I will always be grateful.
Keep them coming through the system @QPR it’s what this family is known for and I’m proud to be one that got the chance to do it 💙🤍
Building for the future of @QPRAcademy 🏗️
The development of a new full-sized outdoor 3G pitch with floodlights and an indoor 9v9 pitch is nearing completion, enhancing year-round training opportunities for our academy programmes. ⚽️
Investing in homegrown talent and building a sustainable future. 💙🤍
While #QPR are no longer the quickest movers forward in the division, they’re now more balanced in terms of combining fairly long sequences with quick progression. Marked departure from the mainly direct style of last season. Balance = progress, more layers to in-possession play

@NFL @NFLOfficiating let’s just go to flag football if everytime a qb gets touched it’s roughing the passer!

Burnley 22nd in the Championship, players not responding to coach Nicky Hayen, whacked 4-1 by Lincoln City, so no great surprise that Hayen sacked after 14 games (one win). But… even by football standards the club's curt 26-word dismissal statement is unnecessarily brutal (and naïve) for four reasons...
First, it’s classless towards a departing member of staff, however underachieving, so what does that say about the owners’ treatment of people? What message does it send to potential successors?
Second, Hayen was the board’s appointment. What does that say about their judgement? Nb: new technical director incoming who should understand football better than chairman Alan Pace.
Third, it highlights the mess, not least in recruitment, that Hayen stepped into. Did he have a chance? Relegated squad, sold best players (last two club POTYs Flemming & Esteve + Anthony), is there enough fight in the team?
Fourth, highlights the club’s financial problems. Burnley used to be well-run.
Board have to make the right appointment, remember Burnley are a football club as well as a business and engage better with increasingly disaffected fans. Burnley fans deserve better than what Pace and ALK Capital are giving them. #twitterclarets
Expected Goal Difference per 90 minutes of each game state (level, leading, trailing). As expected, more xG is racked up in a trailing state than leading. QPR thrive far more in an open game situation compared to when in a level state. More detail on this in due course #QPR

If you want to know why this World Cup is on Premier Sports and not the BBC - start here...
The Premier League isn't just strangling rugby league - it's killing other parts of soccer, too.
Bournemouth, with a stadium holding 11k in a city the size of Warrington, just beat AC Milan 3-0.
That's Bournemouth, who have never won a major trophy but happened to win promotion in the year that the biggest TV deal in history kicked in and thus get £170m before a single fan buys a ticket.
Bournemouth get 80% of their income from a TV deal they barely contribute to, and just 4% from their fans.
For reference, that's half of the *entire* NRL revenue, just from TV, and five times the value of the Brisbane Broncos.
That's AC Milan, the team of Maldini, Baresi, Kaka, van Basten, Rivera, Gullit and Rijkaard.
They get half what Bournemouth get from TV - despite being one of the biggest clubs in the world with an average home attendance of 60k fans.
Bournemouth beating Milan isn't a surprise. They were $2.10 (11/10) favourites before kick-off.
Now remember that there's 19 other Bournemouths in the UK, each competing for attention, and this is what Super League is up against every single week for media spend and oxygen.
The BBC shouldn't be driven by this - Lord Reith wants a word - but commercially, they are. They follow the clicks, and the money, like everyone else.
Rugby league suffers. So does the rest of football. So does cricket, rugby union and anything else you might suggest.
Certain players missing large chunks of the season was priced in by most. Would the club ever prefer less technically gifted players for more physical robustness? Does that have to be binary? Do we need more depth to be competitive? Questions I’d pose to those in the know #QPR
QPR trio ruled out until late November - West London Sport

Uncharacteristically poor day at the office. Probably due in at some point with one or two players being taken to the well once too often. Cliche to say it but it’s all about how we bounce back next week. Onwards #QPR
