Yup, what was once the first rung on the ladder for many, is no more.
In London, you used to buy a flat, live there 5 years, build up some equity and then move onto a house 🏠 Now you are trapped in that flat 😔

I love the pontification I’m old enough to remember the housing market before trite TV shows turned the whole thing into a commodity
The housing market is a whole, if you attack landlords by imposing an additional 4% tax in just one year you impact the entire market, mortgages. developer share values AND the value of people’s homes.

Good for them , I said ten years ago corporates where the answer Adios amateurs !
Those in an Ltd Co structure are going to sit back and lap up the financial benefits! I am not sure there will be many renters who would support rewarding people who championed policies that restrict supply and force rents up.

Rayner admits demand for leasehold flats has fallen off a cliff. The government’s answer? Not universal Right to Manage, giving leaseholders control of their service charges. Instead, it’s Help to Buy 2: funnelling a new generation of innocent young buyers into serfdom boxes.
Service charges up 26% in a year. Our supporters are clinging on by their fingernails while the government retreats on its manifesto promise to end leasehold. @andyburnham talks about taking back control. So why won’t his upcoming Bill give leaseholders the Right to Manage?

I'm fairly confident that a lot of these accounts forewarning everyone of an imminent end, have some sort of holiday booked in for 2027.

Pleased to see income caps raised for shared ownership purchasers after being frozen since 2016. Up from £80,000 to £90,000 pa outside London and from £90,000 to £110,000 for the London Boroughs.

Good advice 👇🏻 Seeing more and more pressure on valuations. Your home may not be worth what you think it is 👀
Along with product transfers, automatic property valuations have been keeping the housing market alive Interesting recent example have seen the valuations drop by 2% in the last quarter This can have negative repercussions in mortgage pricing Get in early remains the mantra!
