It was a real pleasure to sit down with Danny Boyle and discuss Ink, his energetic and entertaining film about how The Sun became such an influence on British life. Here’s my @BFI interview. #LFF bfi.org.uk/london-film-festi…
The hype has been suffocating on this one. Apparently we’re embargoed until week of release so reaction won’t be immediate. But more news anon…

Anna, the FT example is a family earning £436,000, with two properties, private schooling and luxury holidays. That’s extraordinary privilege, not ordinary middle-class hardship. And pension contributions aren’t tax; they’re retained wealth.
I think it’s entirely fair that those fortunate enough to earn so much contribute substantially more to the society that enables their prosperity. The real scandal is how many families struggle to afford the basics, not how much disposable income remains for people earning nearly half a million pounds.

So many other things to remember and celebrate Sir Patrick Stewart for... but this has to be one of the best line readings in the history of The Simpsons

Really must be quite depressing to be a serious actor & spend most of your time being forced into silly content gimmicks. Just endlessly banal shtick. Can only applaud Seydoux for refusing to eat a stale croissant for Instagram giggles
Harry Kane Ballon d’Or on Monday.
Fleetwood Town beat them muggy lot on Tuesday.
You’re damn right I’m buying a lottery ticket on Wednesday.
If you travel Britain on the reg, you can’t miss the shocking state of this nation’s infrastructure. The roads and train network barely function with journeys often delayed in all but perfect conditions. It’s insane that no government has properly addressed this in decades.
But what if you’ve never seen anything Nathan Fielder has done and aren’t in a rush to find out?
What if you have no real idea who Elizabeth Holmes is and even less interest?
“But if you don’t care why are you posting on here?”
Because I can.
Of the many brilliant things about Artifical (one of the films of the year for sure), Damon Albarn’s music is a highlight, reminiscent of his Gorillaz and late Blur work, with a percussive emphasis. I’ll return to it keenly.
Just in the gaff now about to watch The Idiot(s). You gotta love the PCC. #LFF
The streets say all the cool kids are doing this today 😎
Starting my day with Luca Guadagnino’s Artificial at Royal Festival Hall #LFF
