He looked very good on the ball, he was enjoying his game regardless of the results

Sustained dominance in modern football relies heavily on two pillars: roster stability and smart squad rotation. Mamelodi Sundowns have mastered this, maintaining a battle-tested core for over five years. Kaizer Chiefs, by contrast, remain trapped in a destructive cycle of short-term fixes and unfulfilled rebuilds. When Chiefs hit the mark, they hit hard. Cashing in on Njabulo Blom as a elite engine-room CDM in 2022, offloading Thatayaone Ditlhokwe after he solidified a problem left-back slot, and capitalizing on Aden McCarthy’s stellar player-of-the-season form were textbook moves in maximizing asset value. Yet, any financial gains have been neutralized by poor asset management elsewhere. Selling key goal-threat Makabi Lilepo on the cheap, allowing pitch captain Yusuf Maart to leave for a modest fee, and sanctioning a mutual termination for Thabo Cele—only for him to bolster Sundowns' midfield depth—highlight a deeply reactive transfer policy. Worse still, none of these key profiles were adequately replaced with like-for-like quality. By continually tearing down their own foundations, Chiefs are forcing every new manager to build from scratch rather than evolve. @kaiz
