The two great commandments of the modern West:
1 Thou shalt not judge the behavior of another.
2 Thou shalt judge whosoever breaketh the first commandment.
People who don't know what separation of Church and State means should not be allowed to vote. Facebook is full of them.
When they tell you they always saw the Church as merely a social institution, believe them.

More and more I understand why Jews get frustrated when secular Jews speak as if that gives them authority to speak on the Jewish religion.
Cultural Mormons are Mormon only in the sense that secular Jews are Jewish.

You and I are both LDS and both have large audiences, so what I’m about to say comes from a unique perspective. I saw your Rogan dodge when he asked about your faith.
And I understand that you likely feel like your professional work or expertise is compromised if you reference your religious beliefs but man, was that not such a missed opportunity to spread the light of the Gospel?
Own it! Own your beliefs and proclaim them loudly. Maybe you sell a few less books? Who cares? You’ll still be rich and happy.
Every time I post about my faith hundreds of people unfollow me and say things like “stay in your lane!” But who cares? Spread your light. Share your faith. The upside is greater than the downside.
I love what you’re doing but that clip bummed me out.
Oh boy, turns out James "have your read my book" White doesn't keep up on Mormon publications.
It's really weird when Catholics of all people comment on the high standards of other faiths.
I'd take "don't drink, smoke, or gamble" over "anything other than unprotected vaginal intercourse with your wife is a mortal sin" any day of the week.
I'm not trying to make fun of that belief. I'm pointing out that Catholics are just as susceptible to this kind of criticism, so they probably should refrain. @Sola_Requiem
James is just flat out saying his preferred strategy is to avoid the argument by attacking the person making it.
Hayden knew this tactic is a go-to for Christian apologists, that's why he didn't mention his faith or that he was the author of the book. Turek would have used that to dodge the question.
Hey @DrFrankTurek : I think you should be aware that @Lets_Talk_HC , the "audience member" who identified himself as a "believer" who asked you the long question about a "book he had read" which pushes the problem of evil back into eternity is promoting the video of the encounter as a "debate" with you. And, that he, Hayden Carroll, is an LDS "influencer" and sorta apologist and, of course, the "book" he was referring to is his self-published, less than 70 page book _The Creation Dilemma: Does the Triune God Truly Will the Greatest Good of Every Person?_. On his feed he says this book "debunks" the "creedal god."
So my question for you, Frank, is, how would your response have differed if you had known that Hayden is LDS, and is not one of the new neo-Morms who reject the KFD and historic LDS theology proper, and still affirms that Elohim is an exalted man from another planet?
To give grace to young Latter-day Saints who were gambling:
It is a little confusing when the updated For Strength of Youth pamphlet removes the prohibition on gambling if gambling still is prohibited.
I'm a fan of encouraging Youth to take responsibility for their discipleship. But I don't think we should expect a 12 year old to independently reason their way to commandments that aren't explicitly listed in the book of standards.
I'll admit in past conferences I've been hoping for affirmations of the Family Proc to settle confusion.
But now it's been so clearly and consistently affirmed that I didn't even note it's absence. Those who have blown off past affirmations only would have done so again.
Society can't even conceive of a woman doing wrong anymore.
Men do evil, but women make "difficult choices."
I'll bet $100 that gambling will become a temple recommend question in the next 5 years
Before I see
"But gambling and investing are the same thing"
No, just no.
Gambling is a zero sum game. One person has to lose, another has to win. Less comes out than goes in. Nothing productive results.
Investing is an engine of productivity - more comes out than goes in.
I am officially withdrawing my long-standing $5,000 bet offer that the LDS Church will not change its stance on gay marriage.
Not that anyone was ever willing to put their money where their mouth was anyway.
I've been to Catholic Church 3 times.
So according to Hulu I'm qualified to star in "The Secret Lives of Catholic YouTubers"
