Your travel team is “elite”.
Your tournament is “national”.
And yet everybody within 40 miles got the same invitation and are playing in it.
Good morning.

PLAYOFF FUN FACT: In the Opening Round we had 11 teams that would have not made the playoffs under the old system win games in 1A-3A. The #22 seed was the most popular with 4 of them advancing to next week. Casey-Westfield, Shelbyville, Oregon, & Woodstock (Marian)

Rocco Mertens' punt return for a TD was one of the many explosive plays in the St. Patrick 54-37 IHSA Class 7A opening round win tonight over Collinsville. Was a little off on yardage, but still a great play and my call tonight on NFHS. Enjoyed getting a home game at Triton! – at River Grove, IL
It’s the “boring” exercises that have the highest ROI.
Despite the criticism, I’m all for the @IHSA_IL expanded playoffs.
More kids play an extra FB game, which for most will be their last. New teams get to see their name on the playoff pairing TV show. Unique matchups. Takes some pressure off scheduling.

There is no such thing as sport-specific training in the weight room. Period.
BOOM. There it is. Soul-crushing.
💯 truth on being a coach
"It's a lot less stressful not coaching..
It's important to sit back and enjoy things and that's probably the biggest reason that I retired..
Coaching isn't a job it's a way of life..
Don't get me wrong I loved it but there's a lot that you give up" ~ Coach Saban #PMSLive

We stopped doing a bunch of “sport specific” exercises, sprinted way more, and pumped more iron
We hit so many more homers this year

Parents, your son's head coach gets calls from college coaches during the season
When that call comes, the college coach is not asking about stats
He is asking what kind of kid your son is. How he handles adversity. Whether the team respects him. If he shows up every day or just on game nights.
That phone call can open a door or close one
Well done @SECShorts
