Clean energy projects can be built and connected to the grid significantly faster than new gas generation. Clean energy projects spent an average of less than a year in development last year, while gas turbines spent two to three years in advanced development and construction.

MAREC staff visited @SavionLLC Madison Fields Solar Project in Madison Co, Ohio. The 180 MW utility scale solar facility is an agrivoltaics research site (hay, alfalfa, soybeans, corn with solar generation). @OhioState is studying crops/yields on land used for solar and farming.

As electricity demand grows, energy storage can improve reliability, reduce costs, and strengthen the grid. Maryland should build on its progress and continue leading, not fall behind. Check out our Op Ed in @marylandmatters marylandmatters.org/2026/06/…
