According to new open government records legally obtained, the Public Relations Society of America (@PRSA) / #PRSSA academic #Bateman Case Study Competition “client” in 2023-24— the @CultursMag #DEI magazine — was flagged to PRSA HQ by @UF faculty (@UFPRDepartment / @ufprssa) as a suspected / potential #Pyramid Scheme (among other dire ethics / legal problems). But instead of disclosing to the full nationwide PRSSA student + faculty chapter network (@PRSAEducators) the deep and potentially #illegal flaws in the CULTURS student scope of work and properly cancelling this “client” engagement, PRSA colluders hid the problems and then promptly awarded UF 🐊 1st Prize 🏆 in the national competition, while keeping this background secret. When 2024 PRSA Chair Joseph Abreu announced his own alma mater won Bateman in his PRSA HQ news release, he “forgot” to mention he is a Florida alumnus himself. 😑 Immediately after she left her PRSA CEO post, @runltb joined the CULTURS advisory board potentially in a compensated post, begging questions if a “deal” was made. #ConflictOfInterest #PRethics #Fail #QuidProQuo #EthicsMonth 🔗 prsa.org/news/2024/05/02/the…

The Board of #Ethics & Professional Standards (BEPS) of @PRSA has been notified of serious #PRethics / compliance violations in PRSA itself, including those involving awards-trafficking among PRSA National Chairs, Grievance Chairs, and 2026 @PRSAFoundation Paladin Award winner.

The @PRCA_HQ U.K. PR trade body's Standards Committee Chair *and* Vice Chair -- as announced only about 4 months ago -- have abruptly left post. No explanation for the sudden departures from these key ethics / compliance roles have been forthcoming. marybethwest.com/new-prca-st…

Are we talking about ethics enough in PR? Ethics shouldn’t be a conversation we save for September. The hardest decisions often live in the gray areas, where the answer isn’t obvious. Let’s make ethics an everyday conversation. #PRethics #PRethicsMonth 1/10

We often underestimate the importance of trust in managing relationships for our clients and organizations as public relations professionals. Being transparent, truthful, and ethical in how we communicate, both internally and externally, forms the foundation upon which we build much-needed trust in our brands, organizations, and products. When that trust is established, navigating misinformation, uncertainty, or a crisis in today’s fast-moving technological environment becomes much easier. These were some of the reflections from our panel discussion on “Truth, Trust & Transparency in Communication in the Age of Technology” at @AfricaPRWeek. I had the privilege of joining fellow communications professionals from Africa and the United States for an insightful conversation on the responsibility we carry as communicators in an era increasingly shaped by technology and AI. It was a pleasure sharing the panel with @Mswenani , @marybethwest and Libe Mohale, and hearing their perspectives and experiences. For me, one key takeaway remains clear: Technology may change how we communicate, but truth, transparency, and ethical practice remain essential to earning and sustaining trust. Once again, congratulations to @Njoki116 and the entire @africaprweek team on an excellent conference and for creating such an important platform for conversations shaping the future of our profession.

At our Farm at Sinking Creek in Southwest Virginia, Southern and Central Appalachia meet within one of the world’s richest regions for biodiversity. My wife Tracy has grown this farm into a place of discovery, education, and connection. This summer, we welcomed a 4-H camp and partnered with @segrasslands on a BioBlitz that helped us surpass 1,000 documented species. Her stewardship inspires me every day. Follow along as we share more stories from this land.

Dept of Ed says it took the ABA—the sole law school accreditor—nearly 2 yrs to suspend its diversity rule, which it knew violated SFFA. The ABA emboldens schools like Duke Law, which we found in violation of Title VI b/c of illegal race-based admissions. The gatekeeping must end!

In 2022, TikTok experimented on millions of Americans by secretly withholding safety features from certain users. One of them was a 16 year old boy who later died by suicide. @SenBlumenthal and I are launching an investigation into @tiktok_us. This is why we need KOSA.

A client can't ask for "men only." And a staffing agency can't legally comply. According to an @USEEOC lawsuit, WorkSmart, Inc. refused to hire or refer qualified women for laborer positions because a client requested only men. Federal law prohibits sex discrimination in hiring, even when driven by a client or other third party. Learn more: eeoc.gov/newsroom/worksmart-…
