So dumb. Mamdani is just another ignorant politician who thinks that raising tax rates raises revenue. Wait until he finds out it doesn't work that way.
🚨HUGE! In a stunning win for his tax the rich plan, Mayor Zohran Mamdani just reached a deal with Governor Kathy Hochul tax second homes valued over $5 million owned by out-of-state residents. The taxes will generate $500 million annually for the state. This is amazing.

During the opening stages of the Iran War, the U.S. Army, specifically the 1st Battalion, 121st Field Artillery Regiment of the Wisconsin National Guard, which operates the M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), fired the Pentagon’s entire inventory of next-generation long-range Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM), with replacements quickly being produced by Lockheed Martin, according to Aviation Week.

What happened to all the Tesla killers that legacy press and hedge fund short sellers predicted were coming? 🤔
Tesla alone sold 117,300 EVs in the US — more than ALL other EV makers combined (99,099). GM + Hyundai + Toyota + Rivian + Ford + Lucid + BMW + VW + everyone else… still couldn’t beat Tesla’s single-quarter numbers. Tesla outsold the entire rest of the industry by over 18,000 vehicles.

🇨🇳🇮🇷🇺🇲CHINA has issued a strong warning to US reinstating that China has an energy agreement with IRAN and it ships will not be intercepted. Chinese Defense Ministry: ‘Chinese ships continue to move in and out of the waters of the Strait of Hormuz. We have trade and energy agreements with Iran, which we will respect and abide by. We expect others not to interfere in our affairs. Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, and has opened it to us.’

100 years from now, historians will name Elon as the defining business person of our times.
Marc Andreessen highlights why the people who work for Elon Musk echo the exact same sentiment as those who worked for Steve Jobs. Even after difficult interactions or a sudden departure, they inevitably report that they did the best work of their entire lives because they were pushed to their absolute limits. What drives this intense environment is a demand for truth-seeking at all costs. People who criticize Elon often miss this fundamental trait. He genuinely wants to know the ground truth and has zero tolerance for anything else. When confronting bad news, he is absolutely ruthless and relentless in making sure he understands exactly what is actually going on. This level of radical transparency is shockingly rare in the business world. The typical startup founder operates on forced optimism, constantly putting on a brave face, telling everyone to have faith, and promising that everything will be great just to keep talent from leaving. Elon completely flips that standard script. He operates with pure urgency by simply telling the unfiltered truth, even when that truth is that the company will go bankrupt and die if they fail. In almost any other corporate environment, that level of blunt, existential dread would cause the talent pool to immediately bleed out. But for the teams working under him, that brutal honesty acts as the ultimate catalyst. It strips away the corporate fluff and forces them to rise to the occasion, leaving them with the undeniable realization that, much like the engineers who built the first iPhone, they just completed the greatest work of their careers.

The blockade won't break Iran in a few days. But I'll say this. If the West had blockaded Russia in 2022, Putin wouldn't still be killing innocents in Ukraine. This is the only way to deal with thuggish, resource-rich autocracies: cut off their lifeblood. robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

It is very surprising that equity markets have such a mild response to the Iran situation. Oil $USO is up about 7%, but stocks don't care at all. I guess investors are looking ahead and don't think Iran will matter much.

A bottom line overview
A blockade collapses Iran's imports to zero because there's no cash from oil exports to pay for anything. It sends Iran's currency into a devaluation spiral and the economy into hyperinflation. There's pros and cons to a blockade, but the pros dominate... robinjbrooks.substack.com/p/…

BIGGER PICTURE: HORMUZ Iran’s main leverage is the Strait of Hormuz, with roughly 20% of global oil flows passing through it. By flexing control, the regime is playing its strongest card. But that move comes with MASSIVE consequences. Since the Hormuz is weaponized, the world will now accelerate its workarounds: •Saudi Arabia will most definitely expand its East-West pipeline capacity •Gulf states will begin invest heavily in alternative export routes •Israel will emerge as a potential corridor for energy transit These shifts won’t happen overnight, but they are now inevitable. What this means: The more Iran leans on Hormuz, the faster global energy flows reroute around it. Over time, that erodes Tehran’s leverage and cuts into its long-term power. Bottom line, we will see some short-term pressure as the regime plays its strongest hand. Long term, this is a massive strategic failure of historic scale that will come back to bite them very hard.

Here we go again...
U.S. Vice President JD Vance: "The bad news is that we have not reached an agreement. And I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States of America. So, we go back to the U.S. having not come to an agreement. They have chosen not to accept our terms."

As a Yank who just loves history, I've studied WW1 pretty closely. I have even trudged around the French battlefields with world renowned guides. What the Canadians pulled off at Vimy Ridge was a mind bending accomplishment at the time. Veteran troops were all that was left at that point in the war and these hard men went right up that ridge under intense shell and machine gun fire and swept the Germans right out their key position on that part of the front. Of course, it came at a terrible cost. They had no right to think the attack could succeed given the course of allied operations to that point, but they succeeded anyway. @WW1podcast
Our victory at Vimy should fill all Canadians with pride. Sadly, the post-nationalists believe that we should be ashamed of the Canada that achieved this. We must renew national pride in the courage, valour, and audacity of the tough people who built this country, and died in its defence.
