Last night, on the 2nd anniversary of the atrocities of October 7th, 2023, @bariweiss and I tried to make sense of what happened, and why so much of the world's reaction was quite different from our own. @TheFP

Our latest work on the #GETpathway is out @pnas 🎉🥳🍾 We found that RHD4 flips the "PI4P switch" to drive GET receptor assembly and TA protein targeting. doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2514354…

It does matter, Matt. Human reasoning cannot be fully developed without the skills of reading and remembering texts, thinking for oneself, writing down ideas, and engaging in written and spoken debates. We are in the midst of a disastrous educational collapse, which AI will only sped up.

I was thinking about the same analogy when I saw the spectacle yesterday.

Let me make the situation in Ukraine clear for those of you who don't know Ukrainian History. Let's look at an analogous situation. -Putin decides that he wants Alaska back. It was a bad deal for Russia and he wants it back. -Putin pays a lot of Russians to move to Alaska, and begin to foment unrest and complaints about the abuse of the Russian immigrants who have now become citizens of the US. - Putin decides to invade Alaska to "Protect" the poor Russians. - America attacks the Russians in Alaska to protect its territory. -America is accused of murdering Russians who invaded their country. The American President is called a dictator, and is accuse of starting the War. Maybe not the best analogy, but do you see my point and what is happening, and why Putin is thrilled with the US response, which is playing right into his hands?

Really, Suyaib? Did you ever teach large classes? What you do is downplaying those who have to deal with large BSC classes. Thanks

Good for you! Teaching a small group of motivated students is certainly rewarding, and you're fortunate not to have to handle the basics with 300 students. However, that foundational work is essential for attracting those motivated students to your course in the first place.
