The sociological tide may indeed be turning. Many will understand, get educated, and become allies. Some folks will come “kicking-and-screaming”, but ultimately acquiesce. Others—THANKFULLY—will never comprehend. So be it.
This is America. To my white friends, these people live in your communities. They are in your families. How will you change them?

October 29, 1982 - For the first time since 1978, Bill Walton, Lionel Hollins, and Maurice Lucas were on the same court at the same time. Lucas scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Phoenix Suns past the San Diego Clippers, that featured Walton as the starting center and Hollins off the bench. Walton finished with 20 points and 9 rebounds, while Hollins added 11 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. #RipCity #ThisDateinBlazersHistory

A so-called “endless cruise” around the world was suddenly canceled – the company blaming soaring fuel costs – leaving passengers stranded in Cambodia. Some passengers sold their home to live on the cruise ship full-time. @WhitJohnson has more. abcnews.link/razXjzB

🚨🚨HEARTWARMING UPDATE🚨🚨 Former #NFL defensive end Devon Still broke down in tears after seeing his daughter Leah working her FIRST JOB at Chick-fil-A this week. Leah was diagnosed with cancer as a young child and underwent chemotherapy. During her treatments, she rarely wanted to eat anything unless it was Chick-fil-A. Now, 12 years later, Leah is cancer-free and has started her first job at the very restaurant that helped her get through those difficult days. Devon shared that he pulled up to pick her up from work and saw her helping a customer. He immediately became emotional. “Now I’m sitting in the car with tears pouring down my face.” Still also revealed that doctors once told him how far Leah’s cancer had spread, and he began accepting the possibility that she might not survive. “To go from that to this, I can’t explain what I’m feeling. Just know I’m grateful.” Leah still orders the exact same Chick-fil-A meal she loved during chemotherapy. THIS IS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT. ❤️🙏🥹
WHOLESOME: When former #NFL defensive end Devon Still gave his daughter Leah a legendary pep talk before her cancer treatment. Leah has been cancer-free for 10 years now. ❤️🙏🥹

EJ is one of the best people in our business. Exceptional broadcaster and just a genuine, kind person. This is understandably heartbreaking for many fans, but wishing Ernie the best in his next chapter. He’s more than earned it.

October 28, 1979 The Steelers and Cowboys — bitter interconference archrivals and 1970s superpowers — meet in a grudge match at Three Rivers. Pittsburgh prevails in a hard-hitting rematch of the previous year's Super Bowl, 14-3. In the fourth quarter, Steelers defensive end L.C. Greenwood delivers a devastating hit that knocks Dallas quarterback Roger Staubach out of the game. It is Staubach's second major concussion in ten months, and though he would not miss a start, this hit effectively signals the beginning of the end of his NFL career. He would retire five months later.

👀 These are The Ring heavyweight ratings eight days before Ali is stripped of his boxing licence for refusing induction (April 20, 1967). If that hadn't happened, Ali was on a collision course with Frazier for late 1967/ early 1968. Who wins?

This makes sub zero sense!!!! East teammate Isiah Thomas was accused of arranging freeze out!!! How Gervin became culprit in print is stone ludicrous!!! In actuality, Ice devoured MJ in the game. Interestingly, Ice kept Bulls within playoff distance while MJ was rehabbing foot.

𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗬𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬 - 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗢𝗙 𝗛𝗔𝗪𝗔𝗜𝗜 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟭𝟵𝟳𝟬'𝗦 Tom Henderson was born in Newberry, SC, the family moved to New York and Tom became an absolute star at DeWitt Clinton High School in the Bronx. He first attended junior college then played for the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors from 1972-74. The 1st-team All-American was drafted in the 1st round of the 1974 NBA draft by the Atlanta Hawks; 1978. He was an NBA Champ with the Washington Bullets and a member of the 1972 Olympic team. Reggie Carter, played at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville/NYC and played his freshman season at Hawaii but transferred and played at St. John's from 1975–1976. Drafted in the 2nd round by the New York Knicks in 1979 and played 2 seasons. Reggie Carter passed away on December 24, 1999. Victor Kelly, born in the Bronx, starred at Benjamin Franklin High School. The 5'8" backcourt wizard was a 3-time MVP of the famous New York vs. Philadelphia Summer All-Star Game. He transferred from USC and holds the University of Hawaii record for most free throws made in a single game without missing. (13-13). Melton Werts was born in Philadelphia, PA, but a familiar figure in New York leagues like The Rucker. He attended the famed Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina through the New York Pipeline. The 6'9" center"spent so much time playing in the NYC summer leagues he was often mistakenly claimed by New York hoops historians and journalists as a New Yorker. He is still the all-time leading rebounder in Hawaii history with 1,098 career rebounds. Keith Fryson, was born and raised in Harlem, and is a NYC playgroud legend. The 1st-Team All-City selection at Brandeis High School in Manhattan was physical, but smooth, fluid 6'5" swingman who brought his magical scoring flair to Hawaii after two seasons of junior college. He was recently inducted into the Real Harlem Basketball Players Hall of Fame! Vern Gibson: A 6'2" freshman guard from New York who arrived at Hawaii for the 1973–1974 season. Vernon was a highly talented and versatile New York backcourt entertainer who was affectionately given the nickname "Showboat" on the playgrounds of New York. His flashy, fluid moves to the basketball and crowd-pleasing passes and defensive plays, were a far cry from his low-key, easy going demeaner. After only 8 games at the University of Hawaii, Gibson quietly walked away from the game, pursuing a successful career in finance, I am told. Keith Bowman: A physical 6'8", 200-pound junior forward from New York, N.Y. who played on the 1973–1974 team. Bowman originally played his high school ball at Savannah High School before transferring to UH via Southwestern Louisiana. The NYC - Hawaii express is still operating today! James Worthy tells a story how he almost got traded from the showtime Lakers: “We had for the first time beaten the Celtics in the NBA Championship in 85. Come back in ‘86 and we lose to the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals and I’m back home in North Carolina watching the Draft like everybody else’s draft day and I’m feeling comfortable, you know, protected and I hear the announcer say, “Up next, the Dallas Mavericks.” And I’m just, you know, chilling on the couch and they said, “It appears that the Dallas Mavericks is offering a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, James Worthy for Mark Agurie and Roy Tarpley and draft pick.” Everting stopped on pause and I was like really? So they kept saying it. I got mad. Reporter called me. I went off.”
