Last Sunday, approximately 400 Perry Hall Library Fall Festival participants had a blast at the Maryland State Fair/Horseland area where they met and learned about farm animals Mavie, Scooter and Oreo the goats and miniature horses Prince, Smidgens and Raven. MD State Fair Board Chair Mary Amoss, Junior Fair Board Member Gwenn Burns, Agriculture Education Program Coordinator Peytin Hereth, and Horseland Reps. Mike Reuter, Christine Reter and Evie Hickman shared about the importance of agriculture and handed out horse-related crafts and Cow Tales® treats provided by MD State Fair Agriculture Education Partner Goetze’s Candy Company. Additionally, several lucky participants won tickets to the MD Holiday Light Spectacular™ that will take place at the Fairgrounds on select nights between December 3-30. Baltimore County Public Library visits are just one way that the Maryland State Fair & Agricultural Society, Inc. is meeting its mission to promote and sustain agriculture education.

Maryland State Fair proud of long-time Fair Employee Robert Coe for being a 2026 Joe Kelly Unsung Hero Award recipient. Joe Kelly, the hero of horse racing behind the scenes, was the publicist for the Jim McKay Maryland Million Day. He was quiet and unassuming, and never sought personal attention or credit, yet was a role model for many. Robert Coe, is a hero of the Maryland State Fairgrounds behind the scenes, for his excellent work ethic and positive spirit. "Everyone knows Robert Coe. They may not know him by name, but they know him as the gentleman who will stop whatever he is doing to help anybody," said Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Sales Director Paget Bennet. “He makes everyone's experience a good one if he can help with simple acts of kindness…on the fairgrounds property." #marylandstatefair
