Evolutions last year were so completely unbalanced they were one of the worst things in the game
People had insanely customized cards with insane Playstyles in October and nothing EA released competed with them based on pricing

Evos were the best thing about UT.

Instead of playing against the same pool of 20 players (at a push) people could Evo whoever they wanted and build unique teams.

Shadows have been extinct for ages and you literally have to sit there for so long trying to snipe them.
Plus, you can use untradeable cards instead of paying 5k coins.
Why the outrage?
This genuinely might be up there as one of the most out of touch SBC / Pieces of content EA have ever released.
It's more expensive than ANYTHING you get from it, and in some cases 3x more expensive.

This card is sitting on my bench because narrow formations are just so clear this year and he can only play out wide.
If only we had the old chemistry/tactics system where I could play him at ST. Bring it back EA, literally no variation in teams anymore.
Of course they were. Evos may have created more variety, but they had dreadful effects on the market, the power curve and hype for new promos.
The reason you are playing the same players every game is because of playstyles, the chemistry system and the female agility meta.

Genuinely can’t believe some of the replies on this saying old chemistry was more restrictive, do people not know that you only played a formation for chem then swapped in game via custom tactics?
That literally gave you so much freedom.

Old chem so clear and it’s not even close.
New chem has killed variety and creativity. You can’t play players out of position and you need so many more links now.

Agree. This is what ruins evos for the people that want to do PnP teams etc.
EA have no idea how to balance them so have nerfed them into the ground this year (which I’m happy with)
However, that doesn’t cater to everybody. Would EA making evos first owner only solve it?
The 3 fundamental things wrong with UT - playstyles, roles & new chem.
This is mostly why people are playing the same teams every game. Until EA gets rid of playstyles & roles and go back to old chem, it doesn’t matter how good the gameplay is, this will always hold UT back.
I understand there will always be meta players that people gravitate towards, but it seems to be dialled up to 11 this year.
The female high agility meta mixed in with playstyles and how restrictive new chem is, means you are punished for not using the same players as everyone.
