Casey Hudson, who worked on the Mass Effect trilogy and was apart of BioWare, is currently developing a Star Wars RPG called Fate of the Old Republic at Arcanaut Studios (that I believe has other BioWare alumni also) that you guys should check out:

not to be a slight hater on main but no dev would send an anon message to some random account on twt that isn't like a well known content creator in the scene or an actual news site ๐ญ i want something to hope for too but come on now
Awesome that saying this got someone to accuse me of hijacking the movement for โweird politicsโ and sending me a link to a detransition clinic ๐ฅฐ ok sure
Replying to @Olarcadia
I think you should add a section encouraging people to donate directly to funds for devs suffering and also links to support their future projects/where BioWare devs are now. Mass effect would be nothing without the people who created it behind it.

i know thereโs a thread on bluesky full of what some of the old bioware devs are working on now that i can try to find but i highly encourage you to donate money if you can to those projects that directly support the devs behind some of your fave bioware characters and moments :)

So my one big ask: for all of you who work in the game industry, please make whatever connections you can to help ex-BioWare employees land on their feet! #SaveTeamBioWare

EA employees are describing the recent layoffs (BioWare, Respawn, Motive Studio, Ripple Effect...) as "wildly disruptive," while complaining of "terrible morale" and "generative AI push."
In a new report based on anonymous interviews with current and former EA employees, Vertical Slice claims EA workers decry mismanagement and corporate greed after the company was taken private by a Saudi-led investor consortium in a $55 billion deal.
"A cold dead place that's slowly decaying as leadership pilfers every last cent."

โช๏ธ EA does not clearly disclose who has been cut - even at the studio level or to some managers. This is creating confusion for days or weeks, leaving in-progress work in limbo, and forcing staff to rely on informal "whisper networks" to find out who is gone. The emotional impact is prolonged because people learn about colleagues being laid off gradually over time.
โช๏ธ Affected workers were invited to "zoom calls" with chat disabled and other participants hidden. They had no chance to ask questions or say goodbye to coworkers. Sources called it "very impersonal": "You're getting laid off because you're just numbers on a list."
โช๏ธ Some laid-off employees were given a grace period to apply for open internal positions, but many of those roles require working in-office three days a week. This is not viable for remote workers or those unwilling to relocate. One source called it "a joke" and said: "I didn't even bother looking because I don't want to work at this place anymore."
โช๏ธ Morale has "nosedived." Management's slogan of "do less, better" has meant doing the same amount of work with fewer people. Upper management is enthusiastically pushing generative AI, which is not yet mandated but is being made very difficult to work without. Employees see this as an attempt to keep making games with as few people as possible.
โช๏ธ Sources describe the "C-suite" as out of touch with both game production realities and what players actually want. There is a feeling that "EA executives cannot fail, only be failed." The overriding priority is seen as funneling cash to the new private owners.
If you guys care about the devs I really think it is worthwhile that you check in with their other projects and things that directly support them right now. The movement is awesome but itโs disheartening that it doesnโt look any focus is on what you can do to support those
devs NOW. I think this will do a lot to show big names the power behind studios and projects theyโll otherwise shut, which is amazing in itself, but please never forget that devs are the heart of the games you love and to support them in this time too
The best way you can support the people hurt by EA is by supporting their future endeavours, Iโm very busy w irl stuff at the moment but Iโll be trying to post about those things to give you guys places to look.
Again, please check out Fate of the Old Republic directed by ex BioWare alumni/Mass Effect dev, it looks sick.

The #SaveMassEffect movement is amazing, however don't forget that the devs have been and will always be at the heart of Mass Effect Universe, and we should support them just as much, if not more, as we do for ME5!

For anyone looking for a new home, we have a number of open roles available.

This is sad news on multiple fronts - for those of us who worked there, for our friends and colleagues at BioWare who are impacted, and for fans who were looking forward to the next Mass Effect adventure.

I started my career at BioWare and will forever be grateful to the founders, Greg and Ray, for inviting me to join in BioWare's legendary journey. Its legacy will live on through those who were part of it and continue to create games through a passion for unforgettable stories, worlds and characters.

resisting the urge to not be a debbie downer about this whole mass effect campaign bc at the end of the day none of this is hurting anyone or anything but i just donโt see a world in which EA, notorious for being anti consumer in a world full of anti consumerism, cares at all
Still thinking about my idea to stream dragon age w viewer polls for major choices/character backstory and making a full worldstate for it
