Over January we launched Project Phoenix 33,400 ft, making this our most successful two stage launch! 🚀🚀🚀 Check out our launch video here: youtu.be/qp7AeOoM4-4
Come see us at the Annual Edgerton Center Teams Showcase! We'll be in Lobby 13 on April 11th from 4:00-5:00 PM.
Learn about MIT Rocket Team's ongoing journey towards constructing one of the first collegiate spaceshot rockets!
Just wrapped up Project Phoenix with a very successful launch at FAR! We had ignition in both stages and reached a maximum altitude of 32k. Despite a parachute failure in the booster, both stages were recovered fully intact, besides one broken fin. Now onto Project Medusa!

Hi everyone! I was the Rocket Team Publicity Chair 5 great years, and I've loved sharing our story with you, but now I'm passing the torch to the next generation of rocketeers at MIT.
This is @Astro_Chuck, signing off.

An amazing day in the Mojave Desert with this incredibly smart and talented group of students from MIT. Their engineering was exceptional, although they had an anomaly 7 seconds into flight — proving again that rockets are difficult. Great spirit @MITRocketTeam
Update! The launch happened at approximately 10:30 AM. An anomaly occured at approximately 7 seconds into flight. We have team members in the field searching for the nose come and parachutes. We did find a rocket that isn't ours already.
Evening tag-up complete. We're working avionics issues and testing payload systems. Tommorow it's integration and build.
We just presented to the @MITAeroAstro faculty today on our path to space!
Our special operations team just tested a second stage ignition system! This component is integrated with the forward closure of the motor and is controlled by our flight computer. Operational, mechanical and software safeties will be used to inhibit premature ignition.
