Notice that Schumer is pushing off a commitment to end the war until NEXT YEAR.
But @VanHollenForMD and @RoKhanna are calling on Democrats to block the funding that comes with the continuing resolution on December 11th.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer vowed Democrats will end the war in Iran through the “power of the purse” next year when they take control of the Senate.
“We are going to end the war. We’ve got some Republicans who have joined us in ending the war and the Founding Fathers had the power of the purse as one of the ways of deterring a president who does war without the consent of the American people,” Schumer said at a Capitol Hill news conference, a day after Democrats won the majority in the chamber.

Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries don’t get to take credit for last night’s victory.
They have been utterly fucking useless.
They need to remember that Dems have a worse favorability rating than the GOP.
That’s on them.

There is no chance that anyone is going to challenge Hakeem Jeffries for Speaker, especially since he would be the first Black Speaker.
And it doesn't look like anyone is going to challenge Schumer in the Senate either. Van Hollen doesn't seem interested, and no one seems to have the appetite for taking on Schumer's powerful machine in the party. I'm hearing this from a lot of folks here in DC, and it seems to be in the zeitgeist. Schumer's incredible incompetence (which probably cost at least one Senate seat for the Dems in Florida and damn near cost Michigan and Maine too if Schumer had his way) is not on people's minds in the euphoria of yesterday's performance.
We should take this as an early warning sign. There's probably nothing to be done about it, but it should be a signal to all of us that we need to double down on our involvement on the issues, not ease up on them--which is what the centrists are going to say we need to do. Remember how wrong they have been at every turn and they know they are on shaky ground to say the least.
