I met today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with H.E. Mr. Pablo Bárbara Gómez, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Mauritania. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the constructive and fruitful partnership between our two countries and explore ways to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations in pursuit of our shared interests. Discussions also focused on preparations for the upcoming Regional Mediterranean Forum and prospects for ministerial dialogue between the European Union and its Southern Neighbourhood partners.

التقيت اليوم بمقر الوزارة سعادة السيد بابلو باربرا غوميز، سفير مملكة إسبانيا. وشكّل اللقاء فرصة لاستعراض علاقات الشراكة البناءة والمثمرة القائمة بين بلدينا، وبحث سبل تطويرها وتعميقها بما يخدم مصالحنا المشتركة. كما تناول اللقاء التحضيرات الجارية لعقد المنتدى الإقليمي المتوسطي، وآفاق الحوار الوزاري بين الاتحاد الأوروبي ودول الجوار الجنوبي.

We were honoured to attend the official launch of the Mauritanian Diaspora Forum, held under the high patronage of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, whose presence marked the fulfilment of one of his key commitments. This occasion also provides an opportunity to express our deep appreciation for the President’s presence and to reaffirm our commitment to strengthening the role of Mauritanians abroad in the affairs of their homeland, while fostering closer ties of communication and partnership with our diaspora in the service of our country’s highest interests.

Le forum des diasporas mauritaniennes de l’étranger s’est ouvert aujourd’hui, à Nouakchott. L’ouverture s’est déroulée sous le haut patronage de son excellence le président de la république, monsieur, mohamed ould cheikh El Ghazouani, dont la présence a été, pour nous, un grand honneur, et marque, par-delà, une parfaite expression de l’un de ses engagements. C’est , également. une occasion, pour nous, de nous réjouir de cette présence; et de renouveler notre engagement envers nos diasporas. Engagement, qui vise à la fois l’implication de celles-ci dans les affaires de leur pays à travers la création de ponts et de passerelles solides de partenariats pour l’intérêt suprême de la Nation.

تشرفنا اليوم بالرعاية السامية والحضور الكريم لفخامة رئيس الجمهورية، السيد محمد ولد الشيخ الغزواني، للانطلاق الرسمي لمنتدى الجاليات الموريتانية في الخارج، في خطوة تجسد الوفاء بأحد تعهدات فخامته. وهي مناسبة نعبر فيها عن بالغ اعتزازنا بهذا الحضور، ونجدد من خلالها التزامنا بالعمل على تعزيز مشاركة جالياتنا في الخارج؛ شؤون وطنهم، وترسيخ جسور التواصل والشراكة معها، بما يخدم المصالح العليا لبلادنا.

On Monday, October 26, I received H.E. Paola Maria Cristiana Russo, Ambassador of Italy; H.E. Joaquín Tasso Vilallonga, Ambassador of the European Union; and Mr. Paul Boussaguet, First Counsellor at the Embassy of France. Our discussions focused on strengthening the partnership between Mauritania, the European Union, and its member states, as well as exploring opportunities to deepen cooperation.

J’ai reçu en audience, lundi 26 octobre, S.E. Mme Paola Maria Cristiana Russo, ambassadrice d’Italie, S.E. M. Joaquín Tasso Vilallonga, ambassadeur de l’Union européenne, ainsi que M. Paul Boussaguet, Premier conseiller de l’ambassade de France. Nos échanges ont porté sur le renforcement du partenariat entre la Mauritanie, l’Union européenne et ses États membres, ainsi que sur les perspectives de son approfondissement.

استقبلتُ يوم الاثنين 26 أكتوبر، بمكتبي في الوزارة، سعادة السيدة باولا ماريا كريستيانا روسو، سفيرة الجمهورية الإيطالية، وسعادة السيد خواكين تاسو فيلالونغا، سفير الاتحاد الأوروبي، والسيد بول بوساجيه، المستشار الأول بسفارة الجمهورية الفرنسية. وتناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز الشراكة بين موريتانيا والاتحاد الأوروبي ودوله الأعضاء، بما يسهم في توطيد علاقات التعاون وتحقيق المصالح المشتركة.

I congratulate Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh on her nomination for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations and wish her every success in this important endeavor. Her extensive diplomatic experience and distinguished record of service within the United Nations system uniquely position her to contribute meaningfully to strengthening the Organization’s role in the maintenance of international peace and security and the advancement of sustainable development. We look forward to the continued meaningful participation of qualified individuals from the Arab and Islamic world in advancing effective multilateral cooperation for the benefit of all peoples.

أهنئ السيدة لانا زكي نسيبة بترشيحها لمنصب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، متمنياً لها كل التوفيق والنجاح في هذه المهمة السامية. إن خبرتها الدبلوماسية الواسعة وسجلها الحافل في العمل الأممي يؤهلانها للمساهمة الفاعلة في تعزيز دور المنظمة في خدمة السلم والأمن الدوليين والتنمية المستدامة. نتطلع إلى ترسيخ مساهمة الكفاءات من العالم العربي والإسلامي في تعزيز التعاون متعدد الأطراف لما فيه خير شعوب العالم.

I held a telephone conversation today with H.E Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates. We discussed opportunities to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between Mauritania and the UAE and exchanged views on regional developments and international issues of mutual interest.

J’ai eu aujourd’hui un entretien téléphonique avec Son Excellence Cheikh Abdallah ben Zayed Al Nahyane, ministre des Affaires étrangères et de la Coopération internationale des Émirats arabes unis. Nous avons évoqué les moyens de renforcer davantage les relations bilatérales entre la Mauritanie et les Émirats arabes unis et avons échangé nos points de vue sur les développements régionaux ainsi que sur les questions internationales d’intérêt commun.

أجريتُ اتصالاً هاتفياً مع أخي معالي الشيخ عبد الله بن زايد آل نهيان، وزير الخارجية والتعاون الدولي بدولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة الشقيقة، جرى خلاله بحث سبل تعزيز العلاقات الثنائية بين بلدينا وتطويرها في مختلف المجالات، كما تبادلنا وجهات النظر حول عدد من القضايا الإقليمية والدولية ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

On Thursday, I had the pleasure of opening a workshop at the Diplomatic Academy to present the outcomes of the Resilience and Community Development Project in the Senegal River Valley. The occasion underscored the strategic importance of agriculture to food security and highlighted the valuable contributions of Spain and the World Bank to Mauritania’s development efforts .

تشرفت يوم الخميس في مباني الأكاديمية الدبلوماسية بالإشراف على افتتاح ورشة عرض نتائج مشروع الصمود والتنمية المجتمعية لضفة نهر السينغال. وهي سانحة لتأكيد أهمية الاستراتيجية الوطنية التي تضع الزراعة في أولوية الاهتمامات لما لها من دور محوري في تعزيز الأمن الغذائي. كما أنها مناسبة لتثمين جهود المملكة الاسبانية والبنك الدولي ودعمهم المتواصل لمسيرة التنمية.

Today, I received H.E. Pietro Mona, Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation, at the Ministry. We discussed bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and Switzerland and explored ways to strengthen and expand our partnership in pursuit of our shared interests.

J’ai reçu aujourd’hui, au siège du Ministère, S.E. M. Pietro Mona, ambassadeur de la Confédération suisse. Notre entretien a permis de faire le point sur les relations de coopération entre la Mauritanie et la Suisse et d’évoquer les perspectives de leur renforcement et de leur approfondissement, au service des intérêts communs des deux pays.
