Sometimes what feels like betrayal to us is someone else's desperate act of self-preservation. And those watching from the sidelines carry wounds we rarely acknowledge. I just published Letting Go of Your Scissors in 2025 link.medium.com/tHMFaAVOHPb

This is what happens when people who don’t understand technology make tech policies. How many people are running models on provider-native platforms?
Built for enterprise. Sold to nonprofits.

X terms are changing. They’re pretty shorter than most T & Cs. Take some time to read to understand what your platform participation means.

This is a very cool trial of technology that can muffle your voice to an AI while leaving it normal-sounding to a human. A kind of aural “do not track” signal. (I’ve been advising Aida & co about it.)

Draw your farmland boundary on datalab.ng to instantly check soil moisture, climate data, and crop health from space. 🚜🛰️
Terms of service say you must accept everything to enter. Why can we not accept only some provisions. Why can we not negotiate how long we stay. That is the authority awareness piece.
This “leave the platform”, people say, like that is a plan. It starts to sound like advice you give someone in an abusive relationship. I see academics migrated en masse to Bluesky. I’ve been there, it’s an echo chamber. The landlords still have the land.
Sharing work logins on these AI task platforms can be identity fraud. US CFAA, UK CMA, EU rules, Nigeria Cybercrime Act 2015. Your employer will not thank you. Your lawyer will not either.

People that were born and bred in Nigeria will visit Nigeria and do a whole ass thread on “my Nigerian visit, what I saw”lmao please nau.
Ireland hosts a lot of the tech HQs for Europe. That is leverage. National law can reach companies that are physically here, even when EU level rules move slowly. We should use it.
Where are the reports.
When the funding ends, the pile disperses. Safeguarding for the age of AI has to ask who holds the data when the donor is out of the equation.

If I was in charge of regulation I would start with children. No unsupervised AI before thirteen. Supervised until sixteen. I do not think that is extreme. I think it is the minimum.
The Digital Services Act is supposed to police this type of harm but it falls short of capturing what victims actually live with. Accountability needs consequences. A code with no teeth remains a document.
Collecting evidence is expensive. Public interest researchers get a short window and this harm does not work on a three year grant cycle. Government should fund the long documentation. I said this in the University Times. Still waiting.
I started a Substack for the nonprofit AI work. Consent, authorisation, transparency. Field notes every two weeks.
First note: After the demo leaves the room.
