Couple more weeks and the 2026 harvest hat will be making its way through a combine. Still a ways to go yet!

This is why we set combines and don’t go off setting cards (especially in canola) 1sr screenshot is combine set with dealership settings on their quick card. 7.75bu/ac loss 😳 2nd screenshot is after I came out and got it set to the proper settings (check the time in screenshots, under and hour difference) 0.49bu/ac loss and didn’t slow down at all. On all the remaining acres that is massive savings going into the bin instead of on the ground.

Setting a combine today, customer was using same settings as last year which were providing 0.25bu/ac loss with great capacity. This year same settings over 5bu/ac loss. Few minor tweaks and back under 0.25bu/ac loss once again. Year to year conditions can make a huge difference, it more than pays to check and make sure.

Sure is dusty savings all these bushels.

Every year we set, optimize and check losses on hundreds of combines. Great afternoon at the Canadian FoodGrains Bank harvest this afternoon at Kola, MB. Thanks to the organizers for having us out and having us pan combines to make sure losses were being kept in check. We had a small contest to see which combine of the big crew there has the least amount of losses. The winner of the day had 0.08bu/ac loss coming out of their combine and got themselves a new MY Precision Ag jacket. 3 different brands of combines with different models got the job done quickly and efficiently.

Washing all the canola dust down with some liquid barley is the much needed end of the day. Glad to finally see some great harvest weather and acres being crushed.

Number one call in canola this season has easily been overloading of cleaning system causing poor sample and lots of sieve loss. Lots of dry and broken down stalks from canola sitting desiccated through all the weather events. Major change in conditions has a major change in settings and concave configurations to make machines work more optimal.
