the level of hypocrisy in this country is baffling.
we’re outraged when it suits us, righteous when it benefits us, and patriotic when it’s convenient.
our principles come with terms and conditions. 🤦♀️
In April 2023 he was terrified for a much less danger.
Guess what has changed?
What a f hypocrite.

Between 2010 and 2026, Maldivian taxpayers have paid former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom 72 MILLION in former presidential allowances.
That is approximately 11,595 every single day for 17 years straight.
As a country, we need to start a serious debate about this.
It is not that we believe former presidents should receive no allowances. Rather, how much we pay, how we determine those amounts, and how long we continue paying them must reflect the economic realities of the Maldives.
After MPs’ salaries, the next petition should address former presidents’ allowances and benefits. It’s time to start this debate.
Taxpayers have paid so far
Maumoon: 72 million
Nasheed: 43 million
Waheed: 25 million
Yameen: 9 million
Solih: 10 million
Total: 159 million.
These payments will continue, and future former presidents will become eligible too.
As a nation, we must ask, can we afford this? Are these allowances proportionate to our economic reality, national income and the living standards of ordinary Maldivians?
Public money should reflect public priorities.

It must be primary season again.
Suddenly, politicians rediscover ordinary life. Roshi and riha at a kanmathee hotel. Sitting around the sufuraa with common folk. Listening patiently, nodding carefully, performing empathy so well you might almost believe it.
Then the election ends.
The ordinary citizen disappears from view, while power, jobs, appointments, diplomatic posts and public money become the real currency again.
The performance lasts a few weeks. The consequences last years.

Why is it always the girls and women who have to be deprived, whether in the name of secularism or religious extremism. Can everyone just leave women alone ffs to live their lives mhb
Anger is growing in Azerbaijan after girls wearing hijabs were barred from schools under new uniform rules.
Students and teachers have staged demonstrations, while dozens have reportedly been arrested and users report disruptions to social media platforms.

and the "values" here mean controlling what women and girls can and cannot wear? you're no different from the extremists who force women to cover up. the weakest of men.
Being a secular state is a value. Values need to be protected.

Our communities would never do this to a pedophile
Shocked to see an island community publicly bullying a mother for wanting to leave with her teenage daughter, apparently by mutual choice. It's a family matter, not a public spectacle. Has anyone considered the girl's feelings? The GOV must act against such harassment @MMuizzu
