The progress AI makes in today's world makes me miss human imperfections in slides and email.
I miss now messed up formatting, color palettes, messy emails, and stretched images.
Qaf is introducing something novel for me personally, I never experienced before....let me explain:
When Qaf was introduced, I was skeptical of its use case to myself, being born and raised in a muslim country, surrounded by muslim community, and received years of Islamic education that strengthed my belief + gave the minimum threshold of understanding of our Islamic laws.
Despite that, Qaf opened two specific use cases for me (till now), that I never imagined I would get into (and I never trusted traditional LLMs to rely on):
1. First use case: Find counter arguments for modern school of thoughts of Islam. The ones (e.g. Dr.Mohammad Shahrour) who bring new angels to Quran tafsir with well thought off logic and explanation. Whenever I tried to search counter arguments of him, most of what I found where people attacking him under the premise "There is no way that thousands of scholars are wrong and hundreds of years of Islam teaching are wrong and this guy is right about something no one thought of" <<<< that doesn't convince me. Not only that, but I can keep asking, and try to get picky and keep on challenging. Something that most people won't either accept (claiming that I wan to find a loophole in our Sharia', which is not the case, or simply don't have time or capacity). With Qaf, I was able to dig deep and bring the counter arguments with evidence, till my satisfaction.
2. Second use case: There are certain aspects of Islam that not everyone is knowledgable deep about to comprehend the wisdom of Allah in having them, and even though the answer is out there, it requires deep research. an average person like myself would typically tackle such aspect by stating "Even though I don't understand the wisdom of Allah behind it, I believe in such wisdom, and that Allah made it for our benefit" << such answer is a combination between safe and reflection of your belief. But now (and that's the most beautiful part), I can strengthen my belief in comprehending Allah wisdom through understanding, and Qaf does that.
There is something magical about what @Abdella6if and his team did with Qaf, and it has the biggest potential to change how we can interact with our religion in a most profound way.
BREAKTHROUGH on offline-tarteel
today @Cyb3ristic hit 100% recall, 100% precision, and 100% sequence accuracy, with 0.84s average CPU latency.
I can't believe i'm writing this sentence!
His idea was simple: instead of trying to "understand everything" in one shot, it listens to the recitation, finds the Qur’an verses that sound most likely, then checks the small audio clues against those verses until the right one wins.
That's what made it fast enough to run offline, and accurate enough to feel real.
This is the part that makes me happiest: open source worked exactly the way I hoped!
I put my earlier work out there. Someone else picked it up, pushed it way further, and now we have something I genuinely didn’t think we’d reach this soon.

Qaf.ai is now available on web in public beta.
It’s an AI harness for answering Islamic questions. When you ask it a question, it does research on 8M pages of Islamic books, and gives a scholarly breakdown.
Free to use while in beta (or if we go broke)

🚨 BISMILLAHIR RAHMANIR RAHEEM 🔔
One Nation Media (ONM), a new global Islamic media platform, launches today with a clear mandate: to challenge dominant narratives and reassert Islam as a comprehensive framework for understanding and shaping the modern world.
Guided by its core mission — to awaken, mobilise and unite the Ummah — ONM positions itself not merely as an online news outlet, but as a driver of thought, direction and mobilisation.
Based in Johannesburg, ONM exists to advance a clear and unapologetic articulation of the Islamic worldview and its application to contemporary global realities. Its journalism moves beyond passive reporting, combining authoritative news with rigorous analysis and commentary to explain not just what is happening, but why it matters.
As a digital-first platform, ONM will produce a range of content including current affairs debate shows, in-depth video explainers, podcasts, short films, documentaries and breaking news. Its coverage will span the African continent and the wider Muslim-majority world, alongside key global flashpoints, delivering analysis with depth and clarity.
In a media environment shaped by ideological bias and the marginalisation of Islamic perspectives, ONM intervenes directly — shaping narratives, challenging falsehoods and exposing the failures of dominant political systems and ideological frameworks.
Dilly Hussain, Executive Editor of One Nation Media, said: “One Nation Media is not here to fit into the existing media landscape. It is here to challenge it. Our aim is simple: to provide clarity, confront false narratives, and equip Muslims to engage global affairs with conviction, confidence and purpose.”
More than a media outlet, ONM aims to restore a sense of direction within the Ummah, advancing Islam as a comprehensive way of life and a framework for shaping the world.
Just ran the new OpenAI Realtime Whisper against a data set of 200 Quran voice recordings (normal recordings, not studio ones) to check it out.
No Diactritization, expected.
Without diacritics, by stripping all down, WER is 21%, not so bad.
Hopefully, soon they will release a model we can fine-tune
Introducing GPT-Realtime-2 in the API: our most intelligent voice model yet, bringing GPT-5-class reasoning to voice agents.
Voice agents are now real-time collaborators that can listen, reason, and solve complex problems as conversations unfold.
Now available in the API alongside streaming models GPT-Realtime-Translate and GPT-Realtime-Whisper — a new set of audio capabilities for the next generation of voice interfaces.
Introducing: OpenGranola 🔥
I built an open source meeting copilot for macOS.
It transcribes both sides of your call on-device, searches your own notes in real time, and hands you talking points right when the conversation needs them. No audio leaves your Mac.
Point it at a folder of markdown files, pick any LLM through OpenRouter (Claude, GPT-4o, Gemini, Llama), and it just works. It's invisible to screen share too — nobody knows you have it.
The whole thing is open source.
