Pulaski was great. I think it was important to show how even in the nearly-perfect Luxury Space Communism world they live in, people can still be kinda racist and we have to overcome that thru education and exposure

In the writers room, in the most authoritative voice imaginable: Let us imagine for moment that Picard obtained some sort of access to a dyoon buggeh, hwhat say you
My favorite Patrick Stewart story is that he loved driving dune buggies, so he demanded a scene in Nemesis where he drives a dune buggy, even though a. it makes zero sense that Starfleet would use dune buggies and b. it was totally out of character But look at that smile.

I tried one at the Apple Store & it seemed really nice. You make the Duo fully Pencil-compatible (ie pressure sensitivity and charging), add a much better camera, & it could be a good replacement device for me

usually kind of blithe about old actors dying but i kind of regard captain picard as the closest humanity has ever come to a portrayal of The Ideal Person

Fall River has filed a counterclaim against cannabis shop Northeast Alternatives, in what could turn out to be a messy legal battle that includes some shady contracts from the Jasiel Correia era: heraldnews.com/story/news/co…

My new method to stop doomscrolling: open Discogs, add 10 records to my want list, calculate the level of poverty I’m willing to subject my family to in order to add to the collection. Hasn’t worked so far but time will tell

Older + classic + escape to another era + gorgeous sentences + incredible characters + unimportant plot = Swann’s Way
I need a good fiction rec please prefer something older; maybe one of the classics that is an escape to another era with gorgeous sentences and incredible characters (plot is so secondary to meee)

It’s entirely possible the phone might have survived if he hadn’t purposely broken it — good tip

read a lot of King as a kid. For me he's got some fun reads, but his ideas get repetitive quickly, his prose style is lousy, & his characters are cartoons. But he's a good entertainer. From time to time he tries to strive for more in a way that I think is interesting though
A lot of my mutuals posting about their favorite/best Stephen King novel. Here is a perhaps embarrassing(?) confession: I’ve never read any Stephen King. As a teenager I was reading George Orwell, Charlotte Brontë, and Virginia Woolf. Did I miss out?

the ones I generally liked best are the ones where he gets weirdness w structure, like It, The Tommyknockers, the Dead Zone. Then you have nasty little thrillers like The Dark Half and Misery

The great thing about having a Portuguese dad is you can’t visit without leaving with something random foisted on you. God knows what. Sometimes it’s 3 gallons of olive oil. It could be, & has been, a black leather jacket and a box of head-on shrimp. You will never predict it

I build expensive journals for people, but have come to realize customers buy them as an aspirational purchase, not a practical one. I’ve been told many times they’re “too nice to use” even though I design them for that purpose
I handwrite first drafts of pretty much everything. Sometimes I buy these expensive journals, but when I sit down to write in them, my farm-boy hand recoils like a human body rejecting a baboon heart, and I go back to writing on plain printer paper like always.

I don’t use journals myself. I write by hand but on an iPad mini. My paper style is one I made myself, light green letter size w margins. Advantages: I can write in the dark, the ink is erasable, and I can zoom in to fill the margins w tiny script in case I want to add something
