Serious question, I've suggested in the past quite a while back, but I want to ask it again:
How long until @AnthropicAI just builds its own in-house alternatives to Supabase, Vercel, and Github, so that we can just build and deploy everything right there?
You know what's harder than @paulg's famous "be unscalable as long as possible" advice for the app you're building?
Doing it for two apps at the same time. Especially when they're just your nights/weekends side projects.
Ask me how I know.
Hint: @FloodRouteApp and @TowneApp
Never in a million years did I think I'd be here....
Ok that hits hard. Wow. 🥹
🙏 Q Meets Jean-Luc Picard in the Afterlife. This One Hits Different.
The Patrick Stewart tribute we needed.
A beautifully done video from The Machine-Made Muse. Q and Picard, one last conversation. The tone, the delivery, the emotion; it lands.
Worth watching. Follow their work.

This is a spectacular read
"Picard realizes that the highest application of intelligence is not to thwart your enemies, but to design a world in which you and they can live in mutually beneficial coexistence."

Here’s a neat tool for the California geenral election that helps you:
- Understand yourself, politically
- Understand the ballot issues (and candidates)
- Help you map your values to the most appropriate results on the ballot
Once you're done, it generates a pretty PDF with diagrams and explanations to help you understand the above that you can then download for safekeeping.
This.
Watching all the posts fly about Patrick Stewart, I have noticed something incredibly interesting that reaches deeper into the core of humanity: everyone, across the political spectrum, loved Picard.
The original Picard, from the 1990s. It seems people from all walks of life feel a heartfelt loss, and I think there is more to it than just nostalgia or a celebrity passing.
The TNG stories spoke true to everyone, no matter their politics. It was an era where we were able to agree on fundamental things, where our shared humanity and its complexities were spoken through timeless storytelling. It makes you wonder if that balance is why the 1990s feels like such a golden age in hindsight.
I often see the argument that when the original Star Trek came out, traditionalists were offended by it, and that heavy-handed ideology and corporate pandering in the recent Star Trek series are the same thing. But I would ask: what about The Next Generation? It, too, asked deep, challenging societal questions about the human condition - yet everyone, left and right, loved it.
I realize it was just a show, just a fictional character. But I think there is more to it. It represents something we are all sorely missing today: depth and a sense of shared humanity, delivered without constant virtue signaling, and without corporations trying to monetize every last ounce of our attention.
Perhaps the true magic of Picard - and the era he represents - was that he challenged us to be better without ever making us feel talked down to. He invited us to reflect on our flaws rather than policing them. In losing Patrick Stewart, we aren't just mourning an icon; we are mourning the standard of grace, curiosity, and mutual respect he embodied so brilliantly - and which is becoming harder and harder to find.

This really hurts. So touching. Everyone’s really one big family and we all feel the loss in our own ways, yet all come together like this.
Marina Sirtis gives an incredibly emotional, powerful tribute to Sir Patrick Stewart 💔
"He's gone. My friend. My Captain. My fellow football fan." 😢
You can tell it really comes from the heart. You can see how much he meant to all of them, especially the Next Generation crew.
Rest easy, Captain. 🖖❤️🙏
This hits hard. Words later, maybe. Too soon. Unexpected. Heartbroken. apple.news/AySfxvHlVT9OmksUy…
Very impressed with @AventonBikes for how they handled an admittedly atypical but catastrophically dangerous scenario:
A few weeks ago, the (single) bolt attaching my bicycle saddle to its stem sheared clean in half as I entered a driveway ramp at low speed. Had this occurred literally moments earlier, I'd have been traveling down a very steep street and would have undoubtedly ended up in the hospital.
The bike (Abound) was a few months out of warranty, and arguably a failed part could be deemed ordinary wear and tear. But to Aventon's credit, they agreed such a failure was decidedly not "ordinary wear and tear" and admitted they'd never seen such a failure before -- nor have I! -- and so they offered to cover my repair costs at a local bike shop.
Thank you guys. This is what good customer service looks like. You rock.

Heartbreaking. RIP.
🖖 RIP Walter Koenig - #StarTrek's Chekov Passes Away at Age 90 💖
Koenig portrayed Ensign Pavel Chekov in The Original Series, all six original Star Trek films, and voiced President Anton Chekov in #StarTrekPicard!

For those wondering, this is quite typical: existing apps tend to enter review only a few hours after submitting, with approval following just a few minutes later. This has been true with my more complex apps like FloodRoute and Towne, as well as with my games. But point is … FloodRoute 2.0 is now live!!
BOOM! FloodRoute 2.0 -- first launched back in January -- just got submitted to the App Store, and isn't just a fully rebuilt, vastly superior product to the first version, but it's also a fully social app now!! floodroute.com
