As a lifelong Republican, I want to thank myself for begging and pleading with Trump since Feb. 28, 2026, to reverse course from his disastrous decision to attack Iran, from his rampant family grift and corruption, and from his constant pursuit of vainglorious projects like the ballroom, reflecting pool, etc., while the American people have been suffering under Trump's inflation. I knew Trump's actions were wrong for the Republican Party and wrong for America. I predicted, just after he attacked Iran and then lied repeatedly about why, that this would devastate the Republican Party in the November midterms. Since then, I have taken tremendous and often vicious criticism from many of my Republican friends for my statements opposing Trump's disastrous decisions and conduct. These Republican friends of mine condemned me for pleading with Trump to put America First while they cheered, extolled, lauded, and continued to worship their idol, Donald J. Trump. To save the Republican Party and the country, I tried to stop Trump from his self-destruction. My detractors piled on and criticized me, not the man who was destroying our party and country. My friends will likely blame me and others who, early on, stood up and spoke out against a man who was betraying MAGA and America First, for the Republicans' disaster in the November midterms. But I will take consolation in knowing that I was right from the beginning and did what I could, in my small way, to stop it. The Trump Era is now over. He will soon be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, including his illegal and unconstitutional war in Iran. The Democratic Socialists of America have taken over and now control Congress. Not thanks to me, but thanks to all of my friends who condemned and criticized me for speaking out against Trump's betrayal of America.
