The DMV basketball community has lost one of its all-time greats.
Michael Sweetney was an absolute force at Oxon Hill, establishing himself as one of the best players to ever come out of the DMV. He went on to become a star at Georgetown, earning All-Big East honors and developing into one of the most dominant big men in college basketball.
Sweetney was selected 9th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks and spent four seasons in the NBA.
Long before all of that, though, he was a DMV legend.

John Calipari has made well over $100 million coaching basketball and left three college head-coaching jobs for other opportunities. Two programs he coached had Final Four appearances vacated.
Now he’s backing PCSA to “save college sports.”
Here are my questions: What is he putting on the table? A salary cap? A pay cut? Limits on his own mobility?

The one element of private equity that feels under discussed is its almost always a race to see how much money can be stolen before the market corrects. You have a product people love and trust (Jersey Mike) and you exploit the love for it. People will eventually revolt but not before someone gets rich. The lie outpaces the discovery (hey the product is shit, used to love this) just fast enough. The brand gets wrecked, and the vampire squid moves on to its next host. Intentionally enshitifying things people love might as well be financial cancer.
