MURDER MOST FOUL: JOHN MALKOVICH SPEAKS By M.C. Armstrong In yesterday’s @nytimes, John Malkovich discussed his new highly acclaimed movie, WILD HORSE NINE. Interviewed by Clarissa Cruz about his role as a @CIA agent who may have played a part in the killing of both JFK on 11/22/63 and Salvador Allende on 9/11/73, Malkovich says, “The Kennedy assassination, for those of us who were alive at that time, that’s probably the major trauma of my lifetime as an American citizen. Don DeLillo, who wrote the book “Libra” about the Kennedy assassination, referred to it as the seven seconds that broke the back of the American century. And I would concur . . . It’ll be interesting to see how an American audience responds to this, and most especially not an American audience of so-called elites or coastal types, but how Americans in the heartland respond to it.” Can you read the cultural code in Malkovich’s comment? Malkovich knows @CNN and the New York Times hate this story, but the heartland craves it. He recognizes that there is a great gap between New York and LA, and that most of us live in it, and that for some reason, New York and LA have tried to protect us (or themselves) from the reverb of the JFK trauma. Here’s the good news: The gatekeepers are losing. The artists are crashing the gates. Bravo to @TheOliverStone for JFK in 1991. Kudos to @JulianAssange for putting a bounty on those final JFK files in 2017. Thanks to @bobdylan for MURDER MOST FOUL in 2020. The dominant culture is coming around, the establishment narratives of CNN and the New York Times be damned. America knows Kennedy was killed by a conspiracy theory. Was it the Mafia, as the new Travolta film suggests? Was it LBJ, as John Oliver wonders? Was it a CIA thespian like Malkovich (think David Atlee Phillips)? The precise verdict, although important, is not the point. The point is that we’re winning. Thanks to the activism of veterans like Garrison, Stone, Gabbard, and Luna, and thanks to the Herculean efforts of the JFK assassination research community, the Establishment’s sixty-three year suppression campaign is collapsing.
