Day One of the #UGKenyaCoastTourismSummit2026 FAM Trip Edition kicked off with a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to more than 40 rhinos, for an exciting rhino trekking experience.
The team was taken through fascinating facts about rhinos, including their mating process, which can take up to 45 minutes to an hour, a gestation period of about 16 months, poor eyesight and a highly developed sense of hearing.
The experience offered the visitors an opportunity to appreciate Uganda’s rich wildlife and conservation efforts.

At the signing of partnership rights between @TourismBoardUg and @CAF_Online Tourism Minister of State Hon. @SusanNakawuki challenged the sector to focus on converting global visibility into actual visits.
“The bigger question is how many of those people we can inspire to visit, explore, and experience Uganda firsthand.”
She called on hotels, tour operators, transporters, restaurants and other businesses to develop packages that combine football with Uganda’s tourism experiences. The benefits must extend beyond stadiums and hotels to local communities, young people, women and small businesses.
From accommodation, transport and food to cultural enterprises and creative industries, #AFCON2027 presents opportunities across the tourism value chain.
