The Mets are hiring Deron Johnson as a special assignment scout, league sources said. Johnson had spent more than three decades with the Minnesota Twins, notably as scouting director and last working as a senior advisor.
Chelsea is fantastic, but let’s not forget last year when Stearns travelled to Japan to see Murakami firsthand and then proceeded to make literally no effort to sign him. Until there’s an offer made, it’s hard to say it’s anything more than due diligence at this stage.
David Stearns went to Japan to see Teruaki Sato play right after the Mets' season ended. Will Sato be an offseason priority?
SNY's Chelsea Janes with more:
"Don’t rule out Teruaki Sato as a big addition.
Stearns went to see him in Japan firsthand as soon as the Mets' season ended.
You don’t make that trip if you aren’t seriously considering making a push for him."
Jets thought here…do they consider moving Aaron Glenn to the front office in a role working with Mougey and hire someone else to coach the team? Is that something they’d consider? Glenn the evaluator/scout isn’t a bad thing…it’s Glenn the coach that is a negative.

Brian Cashman said he and the Yankees have agreed on a new contract. They're just hammering out the final details. "We're locked and loaded."
Kleine is fantastic. This would be an A+ hire. IMO, a more qualified and stronger candidate than Taylor Smith who got hired in Vegas and Jared Banner who got the #2 job in BAL.

Also, an additional name that has been mentioned in MLB that the Mets have considered at least internally is former Angels bench coach Ray Montgomery- who also has ties to DS from their Brewers days.
