In June 1897, 2000 former slaves paraded in the Seychelles celebrating Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, carrying Union Jack flags printed with the words ‘The Flag that sets us free.’
All been rescued by the Royal Navy from the East African slave trade.
In their public address, translated from Creole, they stated:
“Kindly, Sir, express to the Queen our thanks for our freedom and to England our gratitude to those English Sailors who were killed and wounded, fighting that we might be free.”
The slavery abolition Act had been enacted over six decades prior.

In Polen hat der Kampf um die Deutungshoheit begonnen. Tusk behauptet, der Täter sei ein rechtsextremer Nationalist.
Dagegen sprechen seine Aktivitäten in den Sozialen Medien, wo er mit Regenbogenflagge und Gasmaske posierte, sich über den Papst und das Christentum lustig machte und sich lautstark für die Ukraine einsetzte. Mittlerweile sollen seine Facebook-Konten gelöscht worden sein.
Es deutet alles daraufhin, dass die fürchterliche Straftat politisch ausgeschlachtet werden soll.

2025 wurden in Berlin 1.393 Fälle von Vergewaltigung, sexueller Nötigung und sexuellen Übergriffen im besonders schweren Fall registriert. In ganz Polen wurden 2024 dagegen 1.112 Vergewaltigungen festgestellt.

A mother in Huddersfield was so desperate to save her daughter from a rape gang that she wrote to the Prime Minister.
She had already begged the police and social services to intervene. Her daughter was beaten and abandoned on the moors above Oldham, covered in blood.
Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have all led Kirklees Council. None secured a full council vote demanding a statutory investigation into the failures that allowed these girls to be exploited.
Now Reform UK is in charge. They promised to expose the cover-up. Yet their leader, Sarah Wood, has done little more than write a letter asking for Kirklees to be considered for the National Inquiry.
Five councillors can requisition an extraordinary council meeting. Reform has twenty-nine. The previous administrations failed to secure that demand. Reform now has the opportunity to put it to a vote. It refuses to do so. Why?
I have a simple question. How many political parties must run Kirklees Council before one of them is prepared to put the demand for a statutory investigation to a vote?

Durin the Ottoman period, the Muslim Turks, impaled and roasted alive the Greek Christian Athanasios Diakos. But, they gave him a chance: "Will you become a Turk, Diakos? Will you change your faith? Will you pray in the mosque and abandon the church?"
He replied to them: "Go away, you and your faith, may you perish, you heathens! I was born a Greek, and as a Greek I shall die."
According to eyewitness accounts of the time, two Turks kindled a fire beside the stable and set an iron grate over it, with a large copper cauldron of oil above the flames. They then lifted Diakos, still bound, and seated him on an old wooden stool. His legs were raised. The Turks began to mock him and put questions to him. At every negative nod they drove nails into his feet. Afterward they took the boiling oil and poured it first over his bare feet.
Seeing that he gave no reaction, they tore his clothing and began pouring the oil over his back and chest. He groaned quietly under the pain. The soldiers, ordered not to kill him, used needles to burst the blisters that the boiling oil raised on his skin. This went on for hours, until the following morning.
Exhausted, he was dragged through the town to be put to death. The execution was carried out in public view, by leave of Halil Bey, so that the Greeks would be warned of the fate awaiting anyone who dared to rise in revolt. Diakos’s mother was present at his torture.
After he had been tied backward onto a saddle with his legs forced apart, the executioner began pressing the sharpened point of a wooden stake into his groin and then drove it slowly deeper, through the length of his body, until it emerged near his right ear. The executioner worked with care, under orders not to kill him quickly; with every thrust of the stake, Diakos’s cries showed that he was still alive.
When the executioner had finished, the Turks bound the body tightly to the stake so the skin would not tear, and propped him nearly upright against a tree.
As he was dying, he is said to have spoken these sorrowful lines: "Look at the hour Death has chosen to take me, now, when the branches are in blossom and the earth brings forth grass."

After many hours of torment, the Greek captain died on April 24, 1821.
When the Greeks learned of his story and his martyrdom, they were filled with even greater rage and strength to liberate themselves from the barbarous Muslims and Islam.
Athanasios Diakos is one of the most important heroes in the Greek history.

Fiona Goddard was 16 when police returned her to the Pakistani-heritage grooming gang that raped her.
Fiona Goddard was 16 in 2010 when West Yorkshire Police officers removed her from a Bradford property where seven men of Pakistani heritage had abused her. Officers knew she was logged as an under-age child sexual exploitation victim, yet returned her to the house. One said: “She says she’s over-age — enjoy your night, lads.”
Daily Dazzling Dawn understands the remark, drawn from Goddard’s survivor testimony, has become a defining example of institutional failure in Britain’s grooming gang scandal. Goddard had run away from a children’s home in Bradford in 2008 at 14. What began with a request for a lighter became sustained grooming, rape and trafficking across Blackburn, Rotherham, Rochdale, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Oldham.
By the time officers found her in the Bradford property, she had been abused by at least 50 men, according to her account. Inside, some men were half-dressed and the lounge was strewn with empty bottles and drug paraphernalia. In the police car, intoxicated and disoriented, she mistakenly said she was 18. Officers had already checked the database and knew she was a child sexual exploitation victim. They drove her back regardless.
By 15 she was pregnant by one of her rapists. She gave birth days after her 16th birthday and her daughter was taken for adoption. The abuse continued for another two years. Goddard has said police repeatedly blamed her, calling her a “child prostitute” and accusing her of running a brothel by 17.
Analysis by anonymous researchers behind The Network Map indicates at least 60 police officers were implicated in grooming gang activity, either through active involvement or by ignoring sex crimes. The database draws on criminal trial transcripts, police and local authority records, survivor testimonies and media reports. It identifies more than 1,000 perpetrators and more than 3,000 connections between them.
The project follows a review by Baroness Louise Casey, which found that Asian and Pakistani-heritage men were disproportionately represented among grooming gang perpetrators and criticised agencies for failing to record ethnicity properly. Casey also said local authorities had avoided acting over fears of being labelled racist.
Nine men were convicted of 22 offences against Goddard and sentenced at Bradford Crown Court in February 2019 to a combined 132 years. Basharat Khaliq received 20 years. Saeed Akhtar was jailed for 20 years. Naveed Akhtar, Parvaze Ahmed and Mohammed Usman each received 17 years. Izar Hussain was sentenced to 16 years; Kieran Harris to 17 years; Fahim Iqbal to seven years; and Zeeshan Ali to 18 months. Goddard waived her lifelong anonymity, saying: “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Daily Dazzling Dawn learned that Goddard had repeatedly reported the case to police over five years before prosecution. She has said officers described her as streetwise, downgraded her missing-person reports and failed to treat her as a child in danger. Her case now sits at the centre of two unresolved questions: how many officers failed vulnerable girls, and what accountability remains when the perpetrators have been convicted but the institutions that enabled them remain largely unreformed.
Should the officers who returned a known child sexual exploitation victim to her abusers face misconduct proceedings, or does the 2019 prosecution of nine men close the accountability question?

面对一把冲进市中心步行街的突击步枪，两名普通巡警该往哪跑？
答案是：他们根本不准跑。
甚至连退到街角等待特警都不行。
2026 年 11 月 7 日下午三点，波兰克拉科夫的中央集市广场，突发了一场严重的枪击案。
一名 24 岁的男子身穿全套战术迷彩和防弹背心，手持一把 AR-15 半自动步枪，驾车直接冲进步行街，对着人群无差别扫射。
石板路上瞬间倒下十几人，6 人当场遇难。
就在人群惊慌溃散的时候，最靠近现场的一辆巡逻警车到了。
车里下来的不是全副武装的特战队员，只是克拉科夫警局的两位年轻基层巡警：高级巡警 Jakub Kulik 和他的搭档 Artur Morański。
从第一声枪响、市民拨打 112 报警，到这两名巡警拔枪冲到枪手面前，只有 3 分钟。
很多人第一反应可能是：警察遇到枪手，拔枪对射不是很正常吗？
但把现场两边的装备账本摊开来看，这根本不是一场对等的交火。
枪手手里拿的是 AR-15 步枪，打的是 5.56 毫米步枪弹。
弹头飞出枪口的速度接近每秒 900 米，动能超过 1700 焦耳。
而两位基层巡警腰里挂着的，只是日常执勤配发的 9 毫米手枪。

更要命的是防护差距。
街头日常巡警身上穿的，通常只是轻薄的软质防弹内衬。
这种防弹衣设计出来的初衷，是为了挡住手枪弹和弹片。
面对初速极高、穿透力极强的步枪弹，软质防弹衣几乎就是一层布，根本拦不住。
在几十米的交火距离上，手枪在步枪面前不仅射程吃亏、弹容量吃亏，而且毫无火力压制能力。
既然明知道火力完全不对称，为什么巡警不先找个拐角掩体，等待重装特警支援？
因为在现代警务战术里，有一套非常残酷的主动枪击接敌机制。
在 1999 年美国科伦拜恩高中枪击案之前，很多国家的警务守则都是等待。
巡警赶到现场，先拉警戒线，把外围封锁起来，然后等待特警战术分队赶来突击。
但后来无数次血淋淋的惨剧打碎了这个旧规矩。
在密集的公共场所，手持半自动步枪的凶手，每秒钟就能打出一发子弹。
特警分队集结、穿戴重装备、规划路线再赶到现场，往往需要 15 到 20 分钟。
这 20 分钟里，枪手可以把几百发子弹从容倾泻在手无寸铁的人群身上。
后来警务界彻底推翻了旧教条，建立了一条死命令：
只要公共场所的枪声还在响，不管先赶到的是几个人，不管手里拿的是什么武器，严禁就地等待支援。
哪怕只有两个人，甚至哪怕只有一个人，也必须立刻迎着枪声往前冲。
用自己的配枪在最短时间内开火接敌，哪怕打不中，也要把枪手的注意力从平民身上引到自己身上。
这就是为什么 Jakub Kulik 和搭档接到报警 3 分钟就出现在枪手面前。
枪手的车在街口撞停，提着步枪冲了下来。
双方在街角直接迎面撞上。
步枪子弹瞬间扫了过来。

在极端失血和剧痛面前，人脑底层的生物自保本能，会疯狂命令身体蜷缩、扔掉武器、寻找暗处躲藏。
但网络上流传的一段十几秒的现场视频，记录下了让人震撼的真实一幕。
身受重伤、胸口不断涌血的 Jakub Kulik 没有后退。
他依靠单膝支撑着身体，双手死死握住自己的配枪，对着车后的枪手果断还击。
一枪接一枪，直到把整整一弹匣的手枪子弹全部打空，套筒卡在后方。
随后赶到的特警从枪手的车里，搜出了大量的成箱备用弹药和其它枪械。
如果不是这两名巡警在 3 分钟内迎着枪火接敌，如果不是中弹穿肺的巡警拼死打空弹匣压制住凶手，这些弹药会全部倾泻在广场旁边的咖啡馆、历史大厅和成百上千名游客身上。
随后，Jakub Kulik 被紧急送往克拉科夫的医院实施开胸手术。
全波兰各地的消防员和市民迅速在网络上排队为他献血，波兰总理也公开向这两名年轻警察致敬。
平时我们看现代社会的运转，常常会盯着那些复杂的法律条文、宏大的监控系统或精密的技术防线。

Dreiviertel aller Festgenommen haben einen ausländischen Pass, und wir können jetzt schon davon ausgehen, dass es sich nicht um schwedische oder australische Pässe handelt.
Warum man dies benennen soll? Weil es klar macht, dass wir als Gesellschaft ein Problem mit einem gewissen migrantischen Milieu haben, konkret mit einem muslimisch-migrantischen Milieu, dem Milieu, dass für religiöses Mobbing an unseren Schulen ebenso verantwortlich ist wie für den neuen Antisemitismus. Jahrelang wurde darüber geschwiegen, hat man Schweigen dadurch hergestellt, dass alle, die diese Realität benannten, als rassistisch und rechts im Sinne von rechtsradikal beschimpft wurden.
Wenn die sich selbst als Qualitätsmedien verstehende Presse nicht darüber berichtet hat, dann waren es die neuen Medien, die dafür sorgten, dass Schluss war mit dem Schweigen. In einer Demokratie lässt sich die Bevölkerung zwar durchaus von woken Realitätsverdrehern einschüchtern, doch so etwas währt nicht ewig. Irgendwann kommt die Wahrheit ans Licht, und diese Wahrheit ist unbequem für alle, die uns weismachen wollen, dass uns Migration immer bereichert und das Problem lediglich auf der Seite der Mehrheitsgesellschaft liegt, einer Mehrheitsgesellschaft, die als "strukturell rassistisch" abqualifiziert wird.
