Why are we leaving people to die on the streets in California in the name of civil liberty? Would you accept this for your mom, dad, brother, sister? So why do we accept this moral failure for someone who doesn’t have the same support system?
For years, advocates and higher levels of government told us to invest in call diversion. Last year, we increase 911 call transfers to 988 by 10x to try to connect people with a more appropriate response team. But when Japantown residents called 988 last week to help this poor woman laying in her own excrement in front of a small business, they were told she couldn’t be helped.
So we went back to @SanJosePD to secure yet another 5150 hold. This means she was held involuntarily in our County hospital for no more than 72 hours and is now, as with the many times prior, right back on the streets of Japantown, suffering in public, impacting residents and small businesses, and not getting the life-saving intervention she needs and the wider community deserves.
Our next Governor must do two things to end this humanitarian crisis: fund in-patient treatment facilities and allow CARE Court to mandate involuntary treatment for longer than a brief visit to the county hospital. The compassion answer is to intervene and require people come indoors. Enough excuses.

10th & Mission
They say in San Francisco crime is down. They say it’s safe to ride on Muni. Well this passenger was just stabbed in the neck on the 14th & Mission bus line. Two blocks down the street SFPD & SFSD apprehended the person that stabbed him.
Beautifully said @EricaJSandberg miss you! And @DanielLurie and @mattdorsey do more videos on this! All of this is what we live with in #soma and the parts of the city you neglect. millions wasted #letsgosanfrancisco
It's SO BAD.
Very often when I come back from areas like the Tenderloin, Mission District and SOMA, these are the first words out of my mouth. It’s more of a guttural cry, though. But what do they mean? This:
Stench. Urine and feces are baked into the sidewalk. The reek of drugs people smoke hang in the air, as does that of unwashed bodies and sick flesh. Combined it’s the unique smell of the area, only broken up with the occasional power-wash and disinfectant cleanser.
Filth. Garbage everywhere, blowing around or piling up. Fentanyl foil, empty ice cream containers, smeared paper towels, shed clothing, overflowing trash cans, half-eaten donated food, broken bottles, stolen bikes and suitcases. I see workers cleaning I thank them so profusely they probably think I'm out of my mind.
Depression. Despite the incessant “partying,” no one looks happy. Drug users cluster, argue, lean into each other, sit or nod off wherever they can. Many seem exhausted. Their eyes are downcast, vacant, or angry. Those who don’t use - families, senior citizens, immigrants, and shopkeepers - also appear miserable.
Neglect. Few seem to be paying attention to the crazinesses around them or the brutality they inflict on themselves and others. Wounds go untended and worsen, unconscious people are stepped over. Dogs neither fed nor played with. Fights play out. Dealers deal, thieves sell. Mentally ill people are ignored.
Decay. Not only are living beings falling apart. So too are sidewalks, walls, buildings, businesses. Everything seems to be rotting. Anything of beauty, such as carefully painted murals, is desecrated, ruined. Windows are smashed; bus stops unusable.
I want to forget it all as soon as I emerge; to pretend that what I just saw was unreal. I don’t always want to talk about it because it makes me furious and I’d rather concentrate on the lovely things about my city that make me tear up with happiness whenever I return from being away.
But the fact is, this is what I mean when I say parts of San Francisco are “so bad.”

Because President Trump banned the press pool, there was no audio recorded for his new helipad grand opening - and a unnamed NEWSMAX employee took the opportunity to hijack the closed captioning scroll.

Major protests are forming in Austin, Texas after an ICE agent appears to have shot a man in the back twice.
These officers are not properly trained, many are white supremacists and Trump appears to want this.
Enough is enough.

“Mental health diversion” are you fucking kidding me??? Is anyone paying attention here???
A Honduran given a six-month sentence after being found with fentanyl and a machine gun in San Francisco’s Tenderloin in 2024 received another six-month sentence today, this time at the city’s federal courthouse, after being caught selling fentanyl again. sfpublicsafety.news/machine-…

This isn’t compassion. She will overdose later again today. The body becomes worn down. The brain is damaged. The body is revived. Has anyone studied the impact on the brain here? Where is science @Scott_Wiener this isn’t medically approved on any planet bro.

Tragedy in Seattle. Fentanyl addicted mom gives birth to baby in low barrier shelter. Ignores baby while mom gets high. Baby dies. Yes, mom deserves prison. Yes, Seattle and "harm reduction" policy is also responsible. Enabling drug use is cruel. @MayorofSeattle

This is the 300 blk of Hyde street it was once called the dirtiest street in #SanFrancisco and it still have its issues. But this is the female bully of the block. She just tried to overpower a man to steal his Bluetooth speaker, and he end up, macing her to get her off of him.

It's stunning when you realize exactly how many things trump f*cked up in less than 2 years.
HILARIOUS when a song nails it perfectly.

100% agree with @adamlashinsky here — and it’s exactly what I predicted about @DanielLurie during the campaign. He’s just another politician who prefers slurping noodles on Instagram to discussing serious issues. He’s a fraud, a fake, all smoke and mirrors. He’s no better than Breed on transparency, he hasn’t kept a single campaign promise, he’s caved to the unions but wants you to give him more money for Muni, and the drug crisis is worse than ever. So why are people still lapping it up?
