what's coming will harm many, many people, but statements like this reduce the progress of the last half-century down to a bevy of laws. you cannot, and they will not, erase the normalization of inter-racial marriage, broad acceptance of the public existence of queer people...
We’re about to see 40 years of social progress that was fought, scratched, scraped, and crawled for rolled back over the next 4 years because a decent amount of the general public didn’t believe the progress actually happened to begin with.

definitely can't say for certain this is true but it's a much likelier explanation for any weirdness around the arrest than the "he's a fall guy!" conspiracy theories spreading right now
The reason Luigi’s capture feels so clumsy and doesn’t seem to make sense is that they were tracking him illegally the whole time and now have to retcon how they were able to find him

It is very disheartening to see AI tools being promoted for the use of brainstorming and conceptualizing. Is that stage not the joy and pride of any endeavor? Don’t you want to say *I* came up with this idea?

The dirty little secret of the modern economics profession, especially in the most elite circles, is that when they declare that “the economy is strong” they are mostly looking at charts, most specifically markets, which tell us how well billionaires and stock owners are doing.

FDR, 1936: "Government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob. Never before in our history have these forces been so united against one candidate as they are today. They are unanimous in their hate-and I welcome their hatred!" The voters:
The Democrats used to have a President called FDR who was elected four times in massive landslides with a program of economic populism and massive investment in infrastructure and social programs. The Party elites today barely know who he was and despise everything he stood for.

Lots of good shit here but the discussion of how the gigification of labor makes working class solidarity more difficult and promotes an ideology that every Uber driver is a proto-entrepreneur is particularly urgent.
Historian Robin D.G. Kelley discusses Donald Trump's election victory and why the Democrats failed to mount a successful challenge.

the country didn’t “move far right”, trump got less votes than he did in 2020. democrats just completely fumbled their coalition and alienated entire bases of voters

He got fewer votes than last time, the narrative isn’t the country moving right, it’s the death of neoliberalism as a straight-faced political project. Stop telling people to vote for milquetoast Democrats. It doesn’t address real issues. Time to do real politics America.

theres a lot of really interesting problems to solve here. like how do we make the AI remember where blocks are placed? and then you think about it for 2 seconds and the answer to every problem is "program Minecraft normally". so what is the point of AI here. why does this exist
i tried ai generated minecraft

Generating AI FRAMES from input is such a hilarious idea on how to make a game. Only doable anyway because it's just stealing an existing game that it's been able to train off of, which has terabytes on terabytes of existing footage.
im shocked at how poorly the general public is receiving ai minecraft. ive never seen a work of sci-fi that predicted that people would react to powerful new technology as though it was unimpressive+ unimaginative + idiotic
