At @AlvinDotAI, we build tech that automates the tricky parts of #datagovernance and #datalineage so data teams can get their job done. If you are interested in joining our mission, give our medium post a read and let me know at [email protected] 😎 medium.com/alvin-ai/we-need-…

Why is data lineage so hard to get? Especially if it's automated.
I'm having a chat at 1:30pm (GMT-3) with @MartinSahlen, who has been immersed in data lineage for the past 4 years to have a chat about this.
I'm live already, come:twitch.tv/itsgabsferreira

A #DataCatalog is the powerful tool you need to enable users to discover, understand, trust and access the data they need, when they need it.
#DataLineage describes how #data transforms and flows as it is transported from source to destination, across it…lnkd.in/es3E8YCX
link.medium.com/MbQuBOqQ4hb In @AlvinDotAI our mission is to enable our lineage data in all workflows and tools. Check out how it looks in #amundsen - we think it’s pretty cool😎

The main reason late-stage funds like Tiger and Coatue are eating traditional VCs' lunch is that they're faster.
Speed is probably the number one difference between what founders think is important in VCs, and what VCs think is important in VCs.

It strikes me that the one-repo-per-service model just adds unnecessary complexity to dev w/ no real advantage. Why do it? For the most part, we are building applications that use multiple services. I see little point in splitting them into separate repos. Am I missing something?

One of the best and worst parts of building software is that building a prototype is like 5% of the work of building something that runs at scale in production

Schrödinger's investment: when you never hear from a startup you invested in but also never ask for an update, so the startup is both dead and alive.
However, if you ask for an update and the startup is dead, it can be argued that you killed it

The ability to hire high quality people quickly is one of the most important qualities in an early stage founder and I don't think it gets talked about as much as it should.
The first few hires are crucial and getting them right fast really matters.
Data lineage is just a data set, and a diagram is only one way of making it useful. In @AlvinDotAI , we are building the technical foundation for a future of far more exciting use cases - Drop us a note if you want to be part of it!
In our latest medium post, we discuss the major use cases for data lineage that came up in our conversations with data engineers, and challenge whether a diagram is really the best solution #bigdata #datascience #technology link.medium.com/iA783ezLifb

I am currently thinking a lot about the impact of software architecture on the overall health of a software company. I think, bad or insufficient system design is one of the highest costs for software companies. Do you agree?

Utrolig spennende å se at Slack blir solgt for 27,7 milliarder dollar. Viser at det fortsatt er mulig å skape verdier med bare data’n.

It's surprising that none of the engineers-turned-rich-people in the world have applied their cash to hiring lobbyists to abolish daylight saving time. It seems like they've forgotten their humble roots debugging time zone transitions.
