Last night's debate: @CharlesMilliard came across best and ready to govern. PSPP didn't lose his cool and reaffirmed his desire for an independent #Quebec. @ChristineFrechette was shifty avoiding questions. No gamechanger but good for @LiberalQuebec montrealgazette.com/news/pro…

I'm seeing posts that the latest @MainStResearch "obtained" by @CTVNews was commissioned and paid for by the Coalition Avenir Québec. Numbers seem very odd - all parties way down except CAQ polling higher than average of other polls. @Qc_125

A quick look at #Leger poll seems to show its overweighted with men and people over 55. My interpretation is it overstates support for #PQ and #CAQ leger360.com/wp-content/uplo…

PRASS RALLIES D’ARCY-MCGEE VOTERS, WARNS AGAINST DIVISION AHEAD OF QUEBEC ELECTION D’Arcy-McGee Liberal MNA Elisabeth Prass is calling on residents to turn out in force in Quebec’s October 5 provincial election, arguing that the riding needs a stronger voice at the National Assembly and that the coming vote will shape Quebec’s political direction. In a campaign speech, Prass reflected on her first four years representing D’Arcy-McGee, highlighting her advocacy for families and people with special needs and her work representing the riding’s diverse English-speaking, Jewish, Filipino, Caribbean and Asian communities. Prass also spoke strongly against antisemitism, saying recent incidents have left members of Montreal’s Jewish community feeling increasingly unsafe. She vowed to continue speaking publicly against hate despite hostile reactions. Much of her address focused on the provincial election campaign. Prass sharply criticized the CAQ government, accusing it of worsening problems in healthcare, education, housing and public finances while creating unnecessary division over language and identity. She also warned voters about the Parti Québécois, arguing that its sovereignty agenda could create further uncertainty at a time of international instability. She criticized proposals from the PQ that include extending French-language requirements to CEGEPs and examining the language young people use when socializing at school. Prass presented the Quebec Liberal Party under Charles Milliard as the federalist alternative, saying Quebec should focus on improving public services, creating housing and bringing Anglophones, Francophones, Allophones and regional communities together rather than dividing them. She also made voter participation a central part of her appeal. D’Arcy-McGee recorded only 47.49% voter turnout in the 2022 provincial election, significantly below Quebec’s provincial turnout of 66.15%. Prass won D’Arcy-McGee in 2022 with 51.41% of the valid vote. With Quebec now in an active election campaign, Prass’ message to the riding was clear: a traditionally Liberal seat should not be taken for granted — supporters still have to show up and vote. #QuebecElection2026 #DarcyMcGee #ElisabethPrass #QuebecPolitics #Montreal

UNITED AGAINST HATE CANADA JOINS MONTREAL CITY HALL COMMEMORATION OF SLAVE TRADE REMEMBRANCE DAY A delegation from United Against Hate Canada, led by Ms. Gemma Raeburn Baynes, attended the commemoration of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition at Montreal City Hall. The United Against Hate Canada delegation included Norberto Jr. Mandin, Luzviminda Ogerio Mazzone, Nick Mazzone, Richardo Keens Douglas, Manon Provost, Christos Sideris, and Lolit Sideris. Also in attendance were David Foster, President of the Afro-Canadian Alliance, and Filipino Heritage Society of Montreal Chairman Al Abdon, accompanied by his wife. Among the speakers at the event were Montreal City Councillor Corvil, Mrylande Pierre, and Michael Farkas, who shared messages centered on remembrance, inclusion, equality, human dignity, and the continuing struggle against racism and discrimination. The commemoration paid tribute to the millions of men, women, and children who suffered under the transatlantic slave trade and recognized the historic struggles that ultimately led to its abolition. The speakers also underscored the importance of keeping this history alive—not only to honor the victims and those who fought for freedom, but also to confront the racism, hatred, discrimination, and inequality that continue to affect communities today. The gathering brought together representatives of different cultural and community organizations, reflecting the diversity of Montreal and the shared responsibility of communities to build bridges, promote dialogue, and stand together against hate. The message of the evening was clear: remembering the past must be accompanied by action in the present. The lessons of history should continue to guide efforts toward a society founded on dignity, equality, respect, and inclusion for all. #UnitedAgainstHateCanada #Montreal #EndRacism #RememberThePast #TogetherAgainstHate

With 78 per cent of the vote counted, Tisza on track for 138 seats, more than a supermajority. This is a catastrophic setback for the global far-right, in the very heartland of the movement. Another humiliation for Trump. And another blow to Putin. 24.hu/valasztas-2026/eredmen…

Campaign Launched for Canadian-Chinese Heritage Month in Parliament A national campaign calling for the formal recognition of Canadian-Chinese Heritage Month has officially been launched, led by United Against Hate Canada in partnership with community leaders and Chinese associations. During a press conference, Marvin Rotrand, Director General of United Against Hate Canada, said the campaign grew out of conversations with members of the Chinese community who feel that Asian Heritage Month in May does not fully reflect the distinct history, struggles, and contributions of Chinese Canadians. Rotrand noted that Chinese Canadians have been part of Canada’s story since before Confederation and have endured some of the country’s harshest discriminatory policies, including the head tax and the Chinese Exclusion Act, while continuing to build strong roots and make major contributions to Canadian society. He said the campaign is now seeking support from Members of Parliament, senators, municipal leaders, school commissioners, and community organizations across the country. Organizers confirmed that letters have already been sent to federal and provincial officials, while local leaders in places such as Markham, Vaughan, Toronto, and Edmonton expressed support for the initiative. Community leader Jimmy Chan also spoke emotionally about the importance of preserving history for future generations, saying a dedicated heritage month would honor the sacrifices of Chinese ancestors, celebrate identity, and strengthen cultural understanding in Canada. Supporters said the campaign is not a short-term push but the beginning of a longer parliamentary effort aimed at securing national recognition for the Chinese Canadian community. #CanadianChineseHeritageMonth #ChineseCanadian #HeritageMonth #Canada #ParliamentOfCanada #ChineseCanadians #MulticulturalCanada #Inclusion #Diversity #CommunityRecognition
