🚧 Roads Update:
Heavy snow is leading to dangerous conditions on all routes in North Cork this afternoon. Up to 30cm of snow has fallen in the Rockchapel area.
Snow ploughs and gritters are working on priority 1 and 2 routes (route map pictured) in the following areas:
- Newmarket to the County Bounds via Rockchapel
- The Bog Cross to Charleville via Dromina
- The N72 from Biddys Green to County Bounds
- The R577 from Cloonbannin Cross to Ballydesmond via Boherbue and Kiskeam
- The Newmarket area towards Ballydesmond
- The Charleville area on the N20 back towards Mallow
Many local routes are impassible and extreme caution needs to be taken even on treated routes if you must travel.

As a young fella, I'd often stop off on Bowling Green Street to see the Echo boys collect their bundles of newspapers as they came down the chute. Still find this whole process hypnotic, like Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory! Delighted to be included again this year. @MaryOK24
Christmas is coming and something is stirring on the presses... 🎄❄️

Cork County Councils Crisis Management Team has met twice today and is scheduled to meet again tonight.
Members of the public are being urged to exercise caution on the roads as driving conditions remain difficult due to excess surface water.
There has been a specific focus on the Bantry area throughout the day. The high tide scheduled for 7pm this evening has passed without major incident.
We are continuing to monitor weather conditions across the county as they unfold and will update our social media channels with up-to-date information.
